i love the evolution part of it. when you are a red fish and minnow, you are just a fish, no one cares to even fish for you, but then you evolve to mammal, kinda get a bit of importance :D

Medium level accounts is just to long :)

Sort:

yeah now look at it as a new user and this guy is talking about and calling people "Dolphins" ... 1. Ridiculous? 2. "What the hell?" 3. I'm out of this crazy place they're crazy people.

i get your point. i don't even know how that started? probably a bitcoin thing.

no its a finance thing , people have been calling the rich whales for years before bitcoin

I have spent the last 30 mins tryingto find the earliest use of whale in finance bnut it was used in the 1930s when peopel used the word "High Roller" like you could say "Hes a high roller, a whale, a Moby DICK! and hes coming to teh casino TONIGHT boys!"

OH YEAH Wolf of WALL STREET that was made after BTC but ABOUT a time in the 1980s BEFORE Bitcoin , "A moby dick!"

ALSO the deifnition of teh word SQUID comes from an early joke ABOUT a whal e and debt......

squid - a pound (£1). Not normally pluralised, still expressed as 'squid', not squids, e.g., 'Fifty squid'. The most likely origin of this slang expression is from the joke (circa 1960-70s) about a shark who meets his friend the whale one day, and says, "I'm glad I bumped into you - here's that sick squid I owe you.."

A high roller, also referred to as a whale, is a gambler who consistently wagers large amounts of money.

learning new things every day. :D
it makes sense

High roller
A high roller, also referred to as a whale, is a gambler who consistently wagers large amounts of money. High rollers often receive lavish "comps" from casinos to lure them onto the gambling floors, such as free private jet transfers, limousine use and use of the casinos' best suites. Casinos may also extend credit to a player to continue betting, offer rebates on betting turnover or losses, and salaries of employees may also contain incentive arrangements to bring in high rollers. The definition of a high roller varies. At Crown Casino in Australia, for example, it involves bringing between AUD$50,000 and $75,000 to the table.
