Facebook is a centralized for profit organization that is fraught with big company advertisements, governments spies, control of freedom of speech and greed (no single revenue share with community). Steemit, on the other hand, is the new sexy guy in town that solves the limitations of Facebook because it is decentralized, great revenue sharing concept: give all people the opportunity to make big money blogging what they love without the control of big brothers (governments and their spies).
In his 2018 statement, Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook CEO) made an interesting remark with regard to cryptocurrencies read it here
Therefore, do not be surprised if Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will want to take the fight to steemit- the conundrum, however, is: will he succeed? Here are some few points.
**Trying to Join the Vibe: ** Yes I do share my steemit posts (about the ingenuity of steemit) on Facebook (am sure Mark Zuckerberg will not see it, but his agents are everywhere) .By constantly showing Facebook how decentralized platform like steemit is better than their business model (including constant news about cryptocurrencies on television especially financial news) plus his former buddies Winklevoss twins (remember their issues with him? ) being the first bitcoin billionaire’s- read the info via my former post here I am sure that Zuckerberg is in a paranoid state of losing out (FOMO) and want to join the vibe just like bitcoin former hater JP Morgan CEO James Dimon
**Taking the fight to steemit **: Steemit is undoubtedly the best social media revenue sharing site in the world that have moved many family (especially from developing countries) out of poverty due to the ability to earn decent money while blogging . see the below video for some good points.
Uniqueness: Facebook is a great company however not unique in creating new products (even MySpace started such social media platform concept before face book)- Reason is that its strategy is based on using its big cash for M&A ie buy other weaker competitors or enter a new segment through M&A strategy-this is not bad and shows great working capital management and many big companies with big cash follow such strategy. Therefore, don’t be surprise if Facebook will want to take over steemit however am sure that @ned will say no because as I indicated in my former post , steem ecosystem is unqiue and ready to take over the world and thus will be far ahead of Facebook in the crypto space with its superior block chain technology.

I was under the impression that SteemIT payouts are an introductory thing. Will they continue to give payouts ?
And as the SteemIT community increases, more and more SBD and Steem dollars will be generated. This will be very much similar to Fiat currencies. Please correct me if I am wrong on that part. Just want to understand how will Steemit function in future.
Steem reward system will always be there however as many people join then there will be more people to share the reward with ...on the other hand, the value of the rewards you get will increase drastically. Yes steem is an inflationary coin

Another point is, will greedy scammers or bots be able to bring down such a great project. Payouts will surely attract a lot of greed. It will be interesting to see how Steem counters the greedy scammers.
I don't see Zuckerberg going down the road of Cryptocurrency. He's to friendly with the banks and goverments of the world. If Facebook came into the market it would have to be something similar to RIPPLE. Facebook wouldn't come in unless there is some banking control over their coin.

The difference is that Steemit values content and quality while FB is already full of garbage posts. The only threat is that FB holds $38bn in cash and when Zuckerberg realizes the power of crpytos he has the firepower to do acquisitions (like he did with Instagram). Remember when you are a tech giant and a new threat pops out, if you can't beat it you can always buy it.

Facebook entering into the crypto discussion feels like a way to control the narrative of cryptocurrencies. Let’s face it, crypto is decentralized by nature - most of them anyway - and Facebook is not. Unless Facebook has plans of starting their own crypto, I don’t see how integrating the existing ones helps them in any way.

Interesting discussion I must say, well the truth is that competition makes organizations to be on their toes, if facebook start crypto stuff, it will not really affect steemit because steemit has come to stay. Destroy Steemit?
What you need to take into consideration is the insane amount of people though, so it will obviously become some sort of competitor to Steemit... But Facebook is already a competitor, just without the potential to earn money. If and when he gives people the opportunity to earn from their contributions, he will become a threat, but he won't be able to destroy Steemit.
Most due to the fact that you can't do whatever you want on Steemit. You're not allowed to speak freely. You're censored the minute you start to say things that others doesn't like or appreciate. You're not entitled to your own opinion on Facebook... Meanwhile that's exactly what Steemit is about. A non censored platform.
What matters is what we Steemians do to get people onboard and that everyone truly realize that Steemit is groundbreaking and that it will change everyone's beliefs and thoughts about what "Social Media" really is. - When that happens, no other platform will have a standing chance.

It is true that steemit has really changed lives. I am from a third world country and I can attest to the life changing power of steemit. It has taken a lot of people out of poverty. I dont see Mark's new year resolution of studying indephtly about cryptos and maybe incorporating them into facebook as a threat to our dear steemit. Facebook is centralised with a lot of share holders which I call Turkeys and you know what?.... Turkeys don't vote for xmas. The power is not totally in Mark's hand...... I also noticed some minor mistakes in your markdowns, insert the two astericks(**) first before the colon(:) and you will get The desired result. Great post all the same.
