Generally the wheels are used on cars as shown in Figure 1. The wheels can be divided into rims and tires. The rims of these wheels and tires in humans can be likened to feet and shoes.
Wheels glide along the road while carrying the weight of the vehicle. Ban serves to muffle the shocks caused by the road surface conditions and prevent these shocks from moving to the body.
1). BRAND WHEEL (DISC WHEEL)
Tires can not be mounted directly on the car, but mounted on wheels, usually rim (disc wheel). Since the wheels are an important part of driving safety, they must be strong enough to withstand vertical and horizontal loads, riding and braking loads and a wide range of power that is tied to the tires. Besides, the wheels should be as light as possible.
In addition, the tires must be well balanced, thereby spinning gently at high rotation, and the rims should be made accurate in order to tie the tires properly.
- a). TUBE PELEK WHEEL
In Figure 2. shows a model wheel that is widely used on passenger cars. Some of the wheels are using ruji-ruji, and this widely used disc wheel is made of steel plate that is pressed in a certain shape.
The rim is welded into an outer one around the wheel to allow for tire installation. The wheels are mounted on a hub or axle shaft using four or six bolts. Wheel jaws are constructed so that the rim can position correctly and center automatically on the axle hub during installation. Weight balances (balance weight) are sometimes mounted outside around the rim to balance the wheel.
The bolts attached to the wheel are called hub bolts, and the lid that covers the bolt is called a wheel-top. Wheel rims can be distinguished according to the method of manufacture and the material. There are two types that are commonly used today: the steel press and the cast alloy.
- PELEK STEEL PRESS
This type of rims (pressed-steel disc wheel) consists of a welded rim. Discs are made of pressed steel sheets. Such constructions are easy to produce in large quantities. In general, cars use this type because it is durable and the quality is evenly distributed.
- PELEK OF MIXED TEMPLE IRON MATERIALS
The rim (cast light-alloy disc wheel) is made of a mixture of aluminum or magnesium. Generally used to reduce the weight and increase the appearance of the vehicle.
** Things to note in handling aluminum rims are: **
In vehicles using aluminum rims, when removing them for a while, eg for tire rotation, repair, or when installing a new rim on a vehicle, after 1500 km of wheels are installed check the hardness of the wheel nut.
When using a tire chain, be careful to install it so as not to damage the aluminum rims.
Use it specifically for aluminum rims. If you need to balance the wheel, use a special balance weight for the aluminum rims. Use a plastic or rubber hammer instead of metal to install it. Like other types of rims, check the aluminum rims regularly.
