Never want to be a Corporate Employee

in #busy7 years ago (edited)

Growing up, we all had different ambition and dreams which in most cases was shaped by the elderly ones around us who to us as a kid, look so made and successful. You see your Dad, Mom, Uncle or Aunt who is a doctor wearing the white gown always, you will be like ow, I want to be a doctor. Some of us watched to many movies and saw different career paths being portrayed by movies as the Real Deal, next you quickly decide to be like that movie character or actor/actress.

When you become of age, exposed to the real world and things are not as you thought they will be, at that point we start searching for that one thing we are destined to be, for that one thing we are made for and will be passionate about.

Till you find that, you might end up in the corporate world, where all the management and directors cares about are numbers, the short and long term gains instead of  the long term lives of their workers. When you don't meet that expected numbers constantly, you are tagged not good enough, not effective and efficient, and might be on the exist door or sack lists sooner than later. The annoying part they pay you a very very tiny/ small portion of their profit or revenue monthly which will never be enough to meet your daily basic needs  not to talk about your personal savings and investment. They pay you that to forget your dreams and ambition. They make you start doubting yourself and your capabilities and with time you will forget what you are made of.

But instead of going round doubting yourself, feeling ineffective and inefficient or not good enough, start talking good to yourself even in the face of that work stress. Use that work place to grow yourself, educationally, financially and socially till you are ready to hit the street. Someone once said, he can't resign from his workplace because of "Free and Fast Internet Access" even with all the victimization he gets just because he's from a different ethnic group. With this internet access, he grows himself intellectually and skills wise and even earn twice of what he's paid monthly through different streams of passive income.

So, try to have different streams of income no matter how little it might seem while working for that organisation, life is difficult so push yourself to learn one skill every month, quarterly or yearly. Skills that might come handy if and when your corporate life come crashing down. Also make good relationships and connections aside your work life. Don't let your work place be a reason why you will fight, be envious and avoid colleagues or clients because you never know when you will need them.

Finally, always ask yourself this question because maybe you never thought of that..

How Long Can I Live for if my Pay Cheque stops coming in?

If you are a business owner or one that depends on one source of income, these question above is also applicable  to you.

This reminds me of a friend who works with a travel agency. He so complains that his job is the worst thing that has ever happened to him. When I met him I introduced him to steemit but still he does not always have thw time to come online because his boss bosses him everywhere.

He complains he wants to quit, payment always comes late and I said to him, "I know you are going through a lot at this work place of yours but all hope is not lost."

Though happens that his boss is not always around but it is crazy any time she is. They have free Wi-Fi too.

Me I told him to kukuma manage and use free wifi to be steeming, while his eyes are out there looking for another job if he wants. Abi I lie?...haha.

But honestly some workers suffer especially this corperate workers. They are suffering and smiling. I really don't want to be a corperate worker... all suited up but sweat out as hell.

As a kid I loved hiw bankers dresses and wanted to be a banker. But now am grown, I think I have a change of mind.

Thank you for sharing dear.

The idea of getting to learn different skills emphasized is particularly true as what the current standard of living is fast shifting from theoretical based knowledge to that which is based on skill acquisition, failure to identify with this trend will only result to what award winning financial instrutor and author Robert Kiyosaki refers to as the "rat race".
