Before You Go About Copying And Pasting-: Why I Think You Should Not Plagiarize And How You Can Be Better

in #busy7 years ago (edited)

I have spent more than four months on steemit and i have seen and learnt a lot. I just felt i should share this. Especially for those that are just coming on the platform. I have seen people a lot of people destroy their steemit career to little mistakes that might have been caused by ignorance.

Comparing steemit to other social medias especially Facebook, we would notice that both platform allows you to post on your wall but while facebook allows you to post anything you feel like even if it is yours or not, steemit does not allow that and the reason is that steemit is rewarding. It is rewarding in the sense that it will pay you if you can come up with original content. So because of this, steemit frowns at the fact that some people will go about steeling other peoples work and post it on steemit.

There are a lot of disadvantages of steeling another persons work and pasting it on steemit to claim it is yours.

1

It will surely lead to flagging. If a person copy and pastes it on steemit, it is 100% sure that people will flag the person if they find out.

2

It reduces reputation when someone with an higher rep flags you.
If you are the type that copy an paste, you would have had series of flags and if you notice you will see that it reduces your reputation. Reputation on steemit can be what defines your interaction with the community. If you have a negative rep, that means you have been flagged and it shows that you have not been interacting positively in the community.

3

Another disadvantage of plagiarism is that you might not get a second chance. As you all know that plagiarism will result to flagging. So when someone flags you, the person might just mute you and you will no longer access to receiving vote from him or her

4

You will send people away from you. Copy and pasting work from another site shows that you are not original and since the platform is all about original content. So once people see that your reputation is negative they will just walk away , from you

How Can I BE Better

One thing most people do not know about steemit is that you can share anything whatsoever as long as it is original. Instead of steeling another persons work, why dont you write stories about your past or share a story of how you fell down while playing ball. People will like you because you are real. Plagiarisim will just make people run away from you.
My advice is that you should try to be real instead of steeling posts, just share anything from yhu. It pays to be original

I pray I don't get flagged...
Cox this my comment is copy and paste...
I mean the emoji
😎😎😎

i just flagged you for that

@ttopswag Your comments on multiple blogs add nothing.

Please he is my friend and I understand him

can you do something about the flagging? he is my friend and i understand his joke

No problem. I removed the flag my friend

thank you very much. how are you?

Men!!! So I just got flagged 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I asked her to remove and she did

The latest trick from plagiarists is to take a news story, translate it into a foreign laguage using google translate, and the translate it back again. This confuses bots like @originalcontent.

Here are two examples of the translation trick that I have spotted.

https://steemit.com/news/@sahaabrehan12345/bitcoin-futures-launch-on-cme-as-cryptocurrency-marches-towards-the-mainstream

https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@rathin/bitcoin-crash-imminent-investor-warns-bitcoin-bubble-is-bloodiest-danger-of-the-century

And they now get votes in two different places

They find a way to do it! I have just written about photo plagiarism, which is even more rampant - and mostly involves copyright infringement too!

I have seen that posting, it seem they are plagiarism

Well said @ewuoso. Originality is key.

If for any reason you copied and paste, please cite your source(s) properly and don't take credit that do not belong to you.

Creativity is important to thrive here. The ability to create something handy from nothing

Just be original

Upvoted. It is inhumane to claim others' labour.

yeah plagiarism denies one from doing better
nice work bro @ewuoso

You are right

Nice1 bro... Thanks

What was the nicest part of this blog in your opinion, and what’s your opinion of the topic?

Great post my selfie friend. I wish more people would pay attention. As a professional photographer though, I would go one step further. Google is a search engine and not a source. The artist or the photographer is the source. Although so far the Steemit community is not quite sure how to handle this, my advice to everyone is is if you can't find the true source to determine if the image is copyright free, then you should not use it. Normally I don't Upvote posts that don't use their own work or work from one of the free sites as long as it is determined that the image is copyright free, but I made an exception for you. 🙂All the best to you! It was fun playing alongside you in the contest!

It took me just a few seconds to find out that the image has a Creative Commons license and that you may use it with the following credit line:

And you should copy this link too. Photo credit: Simplebooklet.com

I hope this helps. You should be able to edit it and give the proper attribution. Cheers! Have a great day!

Ooooo thanks for bringing this to my notice I really appreciate. I am not the type of person that claims what is not mine. I will edit it asap

I know you are not. 😊 That's why I didn't hesitate to mention it. It makes you look a lot more professional when you give the appropriate attribution. All the best!

Thanks God bless

God Bless you too! Glad I met you in the selfie contest!

I like the fact that you stayed Strong

And so did you. God gave us the strength. :-) I have just written a new post about image plagiarism if you are interested in checking it out.

I guess I dont run that risk because I draw my own stuff. Writers would usually do that. I also heard that there are softwares that can jumble up words that becomes undetectable by copyscape and other plagiarism detecting softwares.

There are stuffs like that but it is just a matter of time b4 the person is caught

I agree, still there are people who are not internet-educated and even don't know what plagiarism means. They come with the idea of the earning on the website, not only this one, but any other as well, but they have no idea what to do there and in many cases the frustration and lack of knowledge will do the rest.
Some pages solve this problem by putting the noobs into a rookie mode so they can learn first, and after they pass the testing period they can use the main site.
The problem is that most of the pages simply opt for weeding out instead of educating the first.
Of course there will be always some to go for easy money and copy text knowing what tehy are doing.
Or ones, who, for some crazy reason decide to share a cool YouTube video ( like me) with a three word description. In that case it is not a copy/paste, but simply a low quality post.

Its better to have a low quality post that earns yiu little than have a plagiarised post which earms you flagging

nice reminder for us, thank you :)

Its a great thing to be original; copy and paste won't take you far on Steemit; Nice post bro.
