Please note that due to market volatility, some of the scenarios may have already been played out and the information below is not an investment advice.
US and UK markets closed today: Financial institutions in the US and in the UK will be closed today in observance of national holidays, resulting in lower liquidity and volatility in both markets.
Wall Street closes with weekly gains: Despite finishing lower on Friday, the Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdaq all closed last week in overall gains. Several stocks reached all-time highs on Friday, including Microsoft, Netflix and Nike.
Crypto markets continue to tumble: 6 of the top 10 cryptos registered losses over the past 24 hours. Over the weekend, most cryptos registered losses, as Bitcoin fell below the $7,5000 mark.
Asian markets mixed: Both the China50 and Hang Seng indices were seen higher this morning, while the Nikkei was nearly flat.
Oil registers significant losses: The black gold registered major price declines on Friday and continued to do so this morning. The recent losses are attributed to reports that Saudi Arabia and Russia intend to increase their production and growing outputs in the US.
Europe opens higher: While markets in the UK are closed today, the DAX and CAC opened 38 and 10 points higher respectively.
