Betting on the Blockchain.

I was having lunch today with a few friends when an interesting subject came up.

Gambling.

Each of us gambles every day whether we know it or not.

We gamble that we are going to get to work safely as soon as we step in our car.

We gamble that the food we eat is not going to make us sick when we order it from a fast food place.

Everything we do in this life involves gambling.

Some of us gamble more than others though. I have a fairly large group of friends that loves to watch sports. I like to watch sports too. However, unlike my friends, I usually don't place wagers on football games.

I do think it's fun if you bet $5 on your favorite team and you have $5 to spare, but I've seen my friends bet hundreds of dollars and be in an absolutely horrible place for weeks because they don't have the money to pay it back with.

I was speaking to some of my friends today about that very subject when they told me that I'm a gambler based on the fact that I have so much faith in the blockchain.

They suggested that there wasn't much difference between them betting on football games and me betting on Steem to win the blockchain race.... but they are completely wrong.

First of all, it doesn't actually need to win because this isn't really a race at all.

Secondly, it isn't the same thing at all because in a sports bet you truly don't know who is going to win the game.

Anyone that's been around the Steem Universe for a couple of years like I have is able to clearly see all of the different advantages we have in our favor.

The dapps, the userbase, the communities, the brilliant minds working behind the scenes.

So let them say that it's all a big bet.

Let them tell me that I'm gambling my time, and my future on something that is uncertain.

I'm not a gambling sort of man, but I do know when I see a winner.

Steem.

It's not gambling.

I'm Betting on the Blockchain.

Sort:

Most gamblers lose more than they win. :-)

That's true.

keep going friend, do not stop doing something you have faith in

Interesting how you were able to defend the blockchain sphere among your friends. There’s so much innovation that is going to be done, and all we could do is try to spread the word.

When the floodgates open I believe we will be awash in new users.

enjoy i wish to you the best luck in 2019
