What will Steem be like if the bull market returns?

in #busy6 years ago (edited)

Anyone who's been in the cryptocurrency world for the last few years knows that things tend to go in cycles. What goes up must come down, and then it has tendency to go back up again.

Unless it fails completely.

I have been involved with a few projects that ultimately did not work, but it seems obvious that projects like Steem have too much going for them to fail that easily.

When I first started blogging on Steem there was quite a lot to do. Color challenges, fifty word stories, meme contests. All of these different fun activities that paid out what was a good wage at the time for top earners.

Some of those things still exist, but in my opinion they aren't like they used to be.

During the majority of most of that Steem was actually right around $0.25. A few of my favorite bloggers kept saying things like that they actually consider the price to be closer to a dollar because it used to be a dollar, and they know that it will be a dollar again.

They were right about that. It did go back up to a dollar.

As the price goes back up our fair weather friends who are only here for profit seem to come out in droves.

Follow for follow. People posting that don't actually speak or write English correctly.

You might think that wouldn't matter that much because everyone's got their own story to tell, except that they can't actually understand what my post says.... so instead of writing something about my post they just make an innocuous comment that is not at all related to what I'm working on which makes it to me not innocuous to me.

Then we start getting into arguments about people that have an unfair number of followers, or people that are involved with nepotism since they've been here since the start of the platform.... and those people having an unfair advantage, or people that have high stake and therefore they're having an unfair advantage against new users.

We get into arguments about content creation vs. curation. I'm already starting to see arguments about which is more important lately.

I think we're at an important Milestone right now. The Bitcoin price is either going to go down and keep the market down for a couple more months, or it could rise up and start the bull run which may or may not happen. We might have a strong Bull Run or we might have a very slow lift off.

If that bull run does happen Steem is likely to change in even more ways. As the price goes up more users will come in. When more users come in they're going to look for more ways to be active on the platform.

It's going to be a new ballgame again even though it's going to be the old ball game in some ways.

However you look at, if the bull market returns Steem is going to be quite interesting.

Steemit's still way better than Facebook! lol Hoping the market goes back up, it is more fun when more people are active and interacting.

I think if it goes back up things are going to get really interesting.

I'm looking forward to the day when my vote breaches 50c. It never has yet.. all this time it's been going down, I have been powering up. It will be nice to dish out $1 votes.. I tell ya!

It's all going to be worth it brother, and I won't be one of those guys who says hey I knew that guy before he got famous. I'll be one of those guys who looks right over to you on the yacht and hands you a beer.

That was a very interesting and insightful blog. Im new to steem but I've been in crypto for 18 months and I could see how those arguments could stir up either side of the pot but, like most crypto ( at least those that work) the community's help keep the order. Those new to the space really need to take note to those who will give direction and guidance to individuals who would like to be active and be part of the community. It takes a village sometimes!!

I wish you success in your new Steem Journey.
