BOREDNESS CAN MAKE THE SMARTER CHILDREN

Parents today strive to keep their children occupied and entertained, providing them with television, video games and the Internet as long as they "do not get bored", without knowing that they could be hindering the development of their intellectual capacities. The desire to keep children constantly stimulated has caused them to have problems concentrating on a task and to find logical solutions to the problems they face.

Children who do not get bored do not need to imagine, use their creativity to invent games or ways to entertain themselves or cultivate the attention around them and, therefore, have a lower ability to solve problems in an innovative or creative way and their attention It is usually dispersed, incapable of concentration. According to researchers at the University of East Aglia in the United Kingdom, boredom is essential for children to develop cognitive skills.

In addition, the contemplation of the environment that allows boredom means that children not only learn to pay attention but acquire fundamental skills for scientific exercise, such as observation and data recording.

Many parents believe that it is their role to keep their children entertained and occupied, when historically this has never been the case. Children have always had to solve the theme of recreation by their own methods and, many times, thanks to this they have developed artistic and scientific skills or talents.

Finally, all the above applies not only to children but also to adults: when was the last time you stayed at home doing absolutely nothing? Why are we so afraid of being unemployed? Remember that many of the fundamental reflections in a person's life are presented in that contemplative state that only allows boredom.
