A couple of days ago
I made a post about traveling to Costa Rica for work:
https://busy.org/@jrb450/off-to-costa-rica
The past 2 days have literally been the hotel and work. This what what I have to wear inside of a class 10000 cleanroom where I provide manufacturing engineering support for a medical device company. Its called a bunny suit and reminds me of what Walter and Jesse had to wear in Breaking Bad:
I've been exhausted lately
as I'm fighting off a bug that has my sinuses plugged an my throat slightly sore. Quick side note that landing sucked on Monday during decompression and I lost hearing in my left ear for a day.
I was really looking forward
to meeting my Steemit friend @raserrano during my trip. I 1st met him a while back through steemit and liked him right away. He just seemed like a genuinely authentic and nice guy willing to help anyone out. I recall being impressed by his welcoming bot @tuanis and his tree planting project @treeplanter, both really well designed and geared toward helping people and the environment. We had been chatting back and forth about my move to Austin and this potential of me traveling to Costa Rica. He was so welcoming and warm that I just had to meet him.
The scheduling for the meeting
worked out well yesterday as today is Mother's day, a national holiday in Costa Rica. We decided to meet for dinner and eat authentic Costa Rican cuisine. See @raserrano's post about it here:
https://busy.org/@raserrano/dinner-with-jrb450-in-costa-rica-2018-08-15-20-11-10 Since we had never met in person, I said I would be one standing out with my bright red Bitcoin T-shirt. It was like I had known @raserrano and his wife Rebecca, my whole life. They were warm and welcoming and showed great patience with my Spanish!
Before dinner was over, @raserrano gifted me two 5 Colone dollar bills in perfect (I mean mint) condition. The story behind them are more valuable to me than the face value of the bills. These bills were collected by @raserrano's mother and is no longer circulated by the central bank. I find the Costa Rican currency beautiful, and the 5 colone bill is no exception! @raserrano enthusiastically pointed out that the mural on the back of the bank note was painted by a French person and has all kinds of errors, including wrong flags on the ships and banana's being carried incorrectly.
@raserrano posted about the Costa Rican money here: https://busy.org/@raserrano/show-me-your-money-6
I found it all fascinating!
l wanted to spend more time learning all about Costa Rica and it's people, culture, and landscape but it was getting late and@raserrano graciously drove me back to my hotel.
Today's adventure
took us up to a working coffee plantation called La Doca, since my work site is closed today for the holiday. It was up a windy mountain road with breathtaking scenery. It's the rainy season here and you can see the rain move in over the mountains and completely drench the city of San Jose.
I learned how intensive the coffee making process really is, and will now think twice about what it takes for my privileged ass to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning! These are the guys I'm down here with. Do you like my hat?
Time now for a quick nap before I go explore something else. Its back to the work grind tomorrow!
Hi @jrb450, I'm @checky ! While checking the mentions made in this post I noticed that @serrano doesn't exist on Steem. Did you mean to write @raserrano ?

.Pretty useful bot I love the idea.
I'm glad to have met you yesterday. I love the conversation we had and we are a step closer to convince my wife to join us here in steemit. What a nice tour you have and that is one that I have not done myself. I guess next time when @pdxlove parents come I will have to go and do it with them. Thanks for the dinner. I hope your days left here will be great and your memories will make you come soon with your wife.
It was my pleasure! We will definitely be back! :)
Great hat, so glad you got to meet @raserrano. He's a good dude, my brother from another mother!
I worked in some clean rooms before for construction, but not while they are active. It's a process getting cleaned and into the gear.
What was your favorite part?
Also, I'm a fan of the CR currency as well! @raserrano has an awesome collection!
Thats awesome @raserrano is a very nice guy and has been motivating me to keep posting more content here. I have been to equador before I might have to check out Costa Rica next. The food in south America is so much better then in the north its unbelievable untill you go for yourself the differance in the quality of the food.
Yep. Continue to create amazing content and comment on other's work. Create a community! There's more to it than the $ :)
The coffee plantation excursion looks gorgeous! I would be interested in learning about the process of making coffee, too.
I wonder if that's what my niece wears at work sometimes. She's an engineer at a medical device company. She's talked about the clean room and now I must ask if she wears a bunny suit :)
Awesome story! Following respectfully.
@jrb450 a bunny suit with no ears lol.. Good stuff! Hey, when you get a chance, check out my page. You might see something you like. Peace!
You just planted 0.12 tree(s)!
Thanks to @raserrano
We have planted already 3181.29 trees
out of 1,000,000
Let's save and restore Abongphen Highland Forest
in Cameroonian village Kedjom-Keku!
Plant trees with @treeplanter and get paid for it!
My Steem Power = 19500.16
Thanks a lot!
