Get Busy

in #busy7 years ago (edited)

What has been consuming your time and making you busy lately? Talk about it, gain followers, and keep blogging about what you're up to, using https://busy.org and the #busy tag. It's a good way to collect some extra Steem, especially as you earn more followers with higher SP.

The best way to go about this is to deep dive and produce quality content that's close to your heart, instead of having a blog roll that screams "spam". As always, the focus on milking it is likely to be counter-productive. Just do what you love. The money may come later. Maybe easier said than done, but hey, it needs to be said first, and it's definitely doable.

What am I busy about lately?

Well I'm always free, but I like to make myself busy. An idle mind is the workshop of the devil they said. With that I've been busy reading a lot, writing posts that I can't finish satisfactorily (I have well over 200 drafts now), working out but not as much as I could, and advising some peers on blockchain-related application development.

Ironically I've been spending less time with family and friends these days, so it's quite the total opposite of what I expected before I dumped my dayjob about 21 months ago. I guess that's what happens when one is free to pursue their interests, no holds barred. Maybe I should also start producing more lively content, even though I'm quite a private person in general. I just feel there's some untapped potential in my blog that I haven't been leveraging for the past year.

Being someone who's scatterbrained and have a little too much interests in too many things, I've recently gone back through some of my writings and consolidated my plans. Now that I've observed and sufficiently researched about blockchain communities, I've learned that most of my past hypothesis for open-source communities have largely been wrong as I was quite naive. But with new insights comes new tweaks to the blueprint. The greatest thing lacking now in the cryptospace is a general discovery protocol for end-users, besides the scaling of discussion and consensus enabled by something like Tau. I'll talk more about this in later posts.

Oh and recently there's a change in the local government, which almost certainly means that outdoor music festivals are okay again, so maybe I'll get back into the music events (we had our major music event receiving a last-minute cancellation by the authorities earlier this year due to some political nonsense, hence the company hiatus at the moment).

So what are you busy bees busy about lately?

Busy being busy? If you've been working hard on something behind closed doors, maybe you'd want to consider reading something I wrote last year on Working Out Loud. I know. I'm equally bad at executing on my own words since I haven't been doing this all that much as well lol. Burn outs are real and can go on for extended periods of time. It has been almost a year for me, and boy, it sucks!

I just started working for an upstart online ESL provider in China. Packed up my bags and moved over to Shanghai in March. It's been a crazy few months getting to know my way around the company and also the city.

I think the future of ESL learning is online so I a excited about the position and the booming market in China. As for crypto, I've kind of put it on the backburner for a few months, just investing a few grand here and there into projects that look like they have big potential.

As for personal life, still working on building up my endurance to run a full marathon. I've run two half marathons but getting my body into the condition needed to run a full is a daunting task.

Have a good weekend bud

Work, streaming games on dlive and sleeping.

No waking up? Magic!

I'm busy grinding away my life on digital art and attempts at humor that just make me look like a goddamn idiot every single day and for some reason I don't stop. Then, I write a stupid comment like this on someones blog where I make it sound like I'm angry about something, but I'm not. That just makes my life worse, yet I still continue doing it. I put this picture on Ned's blog the other day:
NoNamesLeftToUse - Simple Diagram.jpeg
And now I feel like an asshole. That's how I explain Steemit to people. How was I supposed to know nobody would get the joke?

Damn. Look at this dog:
Smiling Jack.jpg
He's not mad, he's smiling!

Nobody gets him either! His name is Jack and if he jumps on you, you have to say, "Jack! Off!" "Jack! Off!" Just keep saying that until he listens. Don't worry about all those people with their kids in the park. It's perfectly normal to yell that kind of stuff.

So what else can I tell you?

Busy busy. Better get back to it! Time is money. No rest for the weary. You know how it is.

P.S. I'm actually experiencing one of my worst burnouts yet. I'm starting to think it's permanent. Oh well. Have a good day.

Hahaha i keep running into you on posts! i love your sense of humor @nonameslefttouse :P

I don't even know why I did that. LOL!

Lol i thought that squiggly drawing is pretty similar, although ned's dpos drawing looks more like cult material. Connect 21 dots and summon the devil. Hope the tinfoilers don't pick up on it.

Well I don't know about you, but I'll be stocking up on tinfoil in case there's ever a shortage. Then I'm cashing in. That stuff will be worth more than gold! Hodl foil!

Well, being busy for busy sake doesn't really sound like a fantastic use of time. It's more important to enjoy the journey instead. I think you could use a little bit of downtime. The french have a saying that goes, "Reculer pour mieux sauter." What it meant is that one has to take a step back in order to advance. Better to have clarity of thoughts. Cheers!

Haha not really busy for busy sake, just saying i can drop whatever i'm doing anytime since i dont have any work obligations. You're right though, relaxing and doing nothing is the best. But i gotta get out of the city

Talk about it, gain followers, and keep blogging about what you're up to

Been doing that lately as well but never tried Busy. Kinda got accustomed to using Steemit front end that everything else feels comfortable even if it means an extra vote from Busy!

produce quality content that's close to your heart, instead of having a blog roll that screams "spam".

Also, producing spam won't give peace of mind and happiness that you get when you post a high quality and useful article.

I just feel there's some untapped potential in my blog that I haven't been leveraging for the past year.

Tbh I loved reading your blogs once upon a time. Now I don't see so much energy in it. Bored of Steemit?
You know, you could easily be on the top list if you wrote at your full potential!

I have well over 200 drafts now

Start pumping them out man! We're eagerly waiting. :D

So what are you busy bees busy about lately?

Trying not to miss posting even a single day, to upgrade my recording gear and create better quality content! :D
Also, preparing my bike for another big ride to the Himalayas!

Cheers bro!

Lol may I ask up to which part of the blog is interesting? Yeah i think it's evident that i've been on burn out mode for close to a year now. thanks for the encouragement. Himalayas are great. I wish to travel there someday.

Lol may I ask up to which part of the blog is interesting?

Most of your posts from 6-8 months back. There was life in them and they were fun to read.

Yeah i think it's evident that i've been on burn out mode for close to a year now.

A 2-3 week off from www, phone and everything electronic should do the trick to heal you a 100%. I know it's pretty hard in today's world to stay away for such a long time and leads to FOMO.
So, alternate days of usage should do the trick. Also, I think you've been reading too much content? Leads to cognitive overload. I had faced it a few months back too when I went on a book reading spree. I stayed away from everything for a while and I was back in form. Those times without electronics were really blissful.

thanks for the encouragement

Anytime, bro.

Himalayas are great. I wish to travel there someday.

Lemme know if you come by to India. @firepower and I will be glad to show you around and maybe travel to Himalayas too! :)

Recently, I am interested in photography. I'm starting to understand what's what, my work is getting better. I notice that. And it is so motivating for further work. I'm almost sick of Steemit, I even see ideas when I sleep. It's all so busy for me that I'm rightfully putting the tag Busy. I'm very busy But I also understand that I need to take a break. Soon I will participate in the final quest from Sndbox, in which I just have to prove myself to the maximum. And I'm a little worried that fatigue will take its toll. But I can not escape from the creative abyss that has captured me now. Although, maybe it should be. At least I feel happy doing it. And it's so important to enjoy your classes.

Hey that's good to know, where are you learning photography? Always a great experience to be getting deep into some work :)

I dumped my dayjob about 21 months ago

I'm amazed to learn that and really curious what was the reason to grant you that ability. Guess your early discovery of Steem must be part of the reasons right?

I too enjoy so much diving in the sea of blockchain and crypto in my spare time for a year. Living the life like yours sounds like a complete dream for me.

Hope that one day I can do what I love(or not even doing anything) for financial support, and study about this space day and night. That would be great.

I was already on the verge of quitting, and yeah steem definitely made it easier. Hmm i think it's possible to make this transition if one does not have much commitments and if one's a minimalist..

Yea, guess I can still call myself a minimalist comparing the commitment my sema-age peers have. Trying really hard now just to prepare for a life that spells more about crypto.

Studying stories of early-adopters like yours keep reminding how reluctant I was and motivating me to never stop learning, great share once again.

I think Steem presents one of the best opportunities to build something on the chain. I mean there are many other blockchain projects as well, but I feel they're not getting active end-users coming back day after day. So yea the best is to build around blockchains that are getting massively adopted vs an unproven premise

So what are you busy bees busy about lately?

University and exams are happening right now. Nothing to be afraid of though, I'm ready and will be safe and sound. It took a huge chunk of my time and I couldn't post on steemit because had to concentrate a lot.

All the best in the exams!

Thanks, it will be easy peasy. Like a walk in the park. I'm prepared well :b

what exams are u taking if you dont mind me askin?

Economics, finance, social psychology, management... and other boring stuff, don't mention lmao :D

Experiencing something similar to you between the freedom and the let's call it solitude... After a few years of studying the principles of lifestyle design, this was my first week of only working 10 hours to earn my income.

Crazy shit!!

Now I'm focusing all of my additional time on impact-oriented projects. Relevant to Steem, I'm launching a physical magazine (the long awaited "Musician's Guide to Steem") and I'm hopefully going to distribute thousands of copies for free via steem-funding.

It's a big time for steem imo. But like you said, many are going down a weird path. I think its important to focus 100% on quality of content and reaching a real audience.

LOLOLOL Dudeeee, Busy being busy. Same. This is a simple post I do understand completely LOL once you start to get deeper, I'm like, (OoO) Your 200 post drafts sounds crazy !

I used to blog a lot more quite a while back but not much time lately as I've been really BUSY making vids. I'm obsessed! Good idea to write more on busy as you said tho. I should do it more often!! ❤

I'm making a move to videos, but have been saying it since forever. Writing is much easier, as I can take my time, have more control over the experience, and don't have to make up and all lol

Well have been using busy.org and it sure is very useful . It sure is a great way to get some hike in the powerup in Rep .Score.

That sure is the way how we should treat our life and get to know the true meaning of it by living the way we always wanted and by doing the things that we love. That makes us be in peace and enjoy the work that we are doing.

Well get some more time with family buddy it sure will be great for both you and your family.

Well have been busy with the usual and life happened I suppose.Hope will be out in here full time enjoying and exploring and travel is sure in my list , will be doing that when the things sorts out and I hope it will be pretty soon.

Too much free time can be terrible if you don't know what to do with it. In your case it sounds like there's just too much you want to get done all in one go. 200 drafts is a lot!

Glad to know that the outdoor music scene can resume. You're a DJ right?

I'm currently busy at trying to figure out what's my thing with video creation. Still not comfortable with being on camera.

I like Coldfusion's style of video narration. Takes time to stitch stock footages though, and well, write essays worth narrating.

Hey, thanks for the recommendation. Will check it out. Yeah, video creation is fun but it can be daunting and troublesome depending on how much editing I feel I have to do. And like you said, do I really have something to say that's worth putting out there in video format.

Being busy with busydotorg will give us a greener future someday 😊

Been Busy and yet now that I'm in Melbourne, I had a week of being less busy! :) I love the mix of pace that I have in my life. Thanks for the reminder @kevinwong.

Yes, I agree with you... to be careful not to get Burned-Out as the recovery period can be long and hard.

Take care mate! Cheers... Mel

Ive been busy doing nothing lately time to get busy! lol

Gotta Stay Busy!!!
I have been hustling out the Steemit content! I have a crypto goal that I am trying to reach by the end of the year ....😉

Well sometimes we get to busy, we forget if we are busy doing something worthwhile, it's amazing to know you dumped your paying job 21 months ago, being on steemit made me realise one even get more busy but because we enjoy steemit, we never even feel it.
As for me, I've been trying to promote my quality poems without success, yesterday I was on a whalesshare discord radio trying to promote them, but I spent three hours and yet my poems weren't looked at.
Lol well that's how busy, I even forgot to eat dinner

One has to be busy being busy using busy.org without forgetting to use the busy tag...hehehe

Just trying out my rhyming skills.

Well you have written well and to be sincere, if u were like you, I would have quit my day job as well. I am sure u now have all the time in the world to develope yourself personally without being questioned by anybody.

I am looking at getting grounded in steemit and crypto generally in a bid to be financially free, just that I have less time in my hands and don't know gow to go about it.

Were you already making so much money in crypto before you decided ti quit your day job?

Thanks for the upvote you gave me

Where in abeokuta do you stay

Well it's travelling around my country that has consumed my time lately. I've been using the advantage of travelling to reach various students upcountry promoting steemit and I must say it's exciting reaching places you've never been and introducing a new idea to them.

You have a point my friend, do what you love most, get busy doing it and money might/should come later. And if it doesn't atleast you're busy doing what you love

Ha!! Is it the beer event?? Lol....

beer event??

Octoberfest~ correct?

No busy with busy but busy with class other than work and volunteer work

With that I've been busy reading a lot, writing posts that I can't finish satisfactorily (I have well over 200 drafts now)

😂i totally relate to this. Please i have one question o, when using busy to make a post, does it take any percentage to itself from the post earnings or it only just gives?

Im busy making drafts, i had a rough plan to make so much drafts, that i could just post everyday for a month, however, all my drafts are incomplete, moreover, there is a battle in my mind, a part of me wants me to post only new thoughts everyday, while the other part wants the drafts because, time.

Hence, im busy trying to organise my mind to work with me

@kevinwong, You focused huge point collect steem and earn more followers on steem account. I'm already using #busy tag through create content via busy.org.

Just do what you love, and the money may come later. Maybe easier said than done, but hey, it needs to be said first, and it's definitely pretty easy to do.

That's a key of create contents. Firstly need what we love and what we needed. Currently we all busy with market contests. Everyone need to find financial freedom for our grateful future. I try to stay and spend much time to steem blockchain. Probably I forgotten take my meals coz blockchain tasks. :(
But I'll do my best with combine private activities. :)

Yeah, gym in the morning, 9 - 6 job at RnD Bridge, making animations for games using Spine, after that get back to home, surf internet, watch youtube, chat with friends, eat, sleep and repeat.

Well over 200 drafts? Lol. You don't need to tell me that you have a lot of interests ;)

i've been busy to make quality content these days, i hope i did it. i still new in steemit still finding a pattern here. hoping that someday i can make myself busy with helping new comer in steemit, because i know how is it feel to be a comer. really not good, mireover you don't have anyone to ask.

Busy generating content on steemit! It is hard to write in two languages, and I don't want to resort to Google Translate. Photo editing takes considerable time as well. Also working on a steemit based gaming project. And of course, my day job and taking care of my kid as my wife's away on a work trip. I wish I can have a holiday soon...

Talking about very busy, I think everyone is busy in this world, so there is no satisfactory result but it does not matter if we are busy at work, or by something that is beneficial for everyone. Saying that there is "time money" so basically, this time as best you can use.

#Thanks for sharing ... good post @kevinwong

DQmbtXLu5pwejQkgxphprnapY7B5Exd9qanio1CMSqjsHQ9_640x480.png

I have been busy with school stuff and also making posts on steemit.. Its not easy combining both tho.

I also love using busy.org but I dnt like something about the site and thats the drafts saving.. I made a post some weeks ago complaining to busy.org to develop their drafts saving..

They do have drafts. Click on your profile pic dropdown.

Yes they do.. But its not efficient..

Good day, Kevin @kevinwong :) So, I took your advice, and shared my first post—on the magic of books, and bookstores—through busy.org, using the #busy tag. (Fingers crossed, I got it right). Been hearing about it for a bit, and had other friends recommend it, but your post gave me that final push...

As for WOL, I'll go one step further, my friend, I'm LOL (Living Out Loud). Despite also being quite private, like yourself, lately I've come to regard writing/blogging as launching my diary into the world. So, thinking out loud, discovering out loud, loving out loud, and suffering out loud, too. I figure we're all in this together and nothing is really personal, in the end.

As an ancient Roman playwright, Terence, memorably put it:

I am human. Nothing human is alien to me.

Looking forward to reading some of your 200 drafts, once you release them into the wild web :P

Absulutely true friend. I came to know about steemit from one of my friend about 3 months back. So now i am working hard to succeed in the platform and do well. Its just that i need some support here to grow. Working hard but hust got some disappointment but never loosing hope.

I'm constantly busy everday nowadays. I remember, due to the fact I was in teaching I would have loads of free time and that led to me eventually finding steemit.

I spent everyday making posts commenting and trying to work myself up. 70% of my comments I think are made up by the first few months on Steemit.

The great thing about steemit is that the community is much different compared to your standard forum. This may be due to people being incentivised being nice in return of upvotes.

I joined before Hardfork 19 and the only person who substantially supported me was you. I vividly remember getting $4 upvotes from you and a week later after the Hardfork is initiated they turned into $20 posts and of course I was left feeling over the moon.

However due to work commitments I'm forced to not dedicate as most time to steemit but holiday season is coming round and I may get back into the swing of actively interacting with other members of the community as I once

I hope you had a great day @kevinwong! :)

Busy is actually the first tag I always use. What have I been busy doing? Most of my activities revolve around steem/steemit lately, I recently got delegated 500 SP for a month and I'm trying to make them count. So I been scouting, curating while trying to stay as objective as possible and with a favorable VP. Turns out it's not that easy.lol So yeah, I been learning as much as possible about how steem works in general. Also last week I got to promote steem/steemit on national tv, was quite nervous but I think it went pretty well.

Next up I want to start working out again seeing summer is right around the corner but then again I been saying that for a month. Smh Pretty soon tho.

Thanks for this post @kevinwong. I will have to check out busy.org and use that Tag.

Anyway , I stay 'busy' my own self with a blog post everyday( since Jan. 8th is my streak) and doing a lot of Manuel Commenting/Curating.

Along with my blog posting, my Manuel trail is definitely one of my passions. i.e checking out others' steemians blogs and learning as well as adding to the Discussion and rewarding good Content I find.

I must say after doing this everyday since early January it is very rewarding but I do seem to be stuck in the $1-$2 Rewards on my blog posts.

Frustrating but luckily I do enjoy it . And as you say doing what you are passionate about and then the money will follow later is the best route :)

Again thanks for the post

The most sucks thing for me is busy at the computer. My day-to-day work at the office made me feel time running out for a machine.

Since I came to the world of Steemit, of course, my busyness so it feels good. I have a new world as if walking in a new place to remove the fatigue in the world of Steemit and it works!

Keeping busy with blogs is a solution to the saturation of life. One question from me @kevinwong, when you get bored with blogs, what do you do and how to find the spirit back in the blog?

Ops, that's two questions, eh?!

Find spirit back i still have no answer haha. For the past year I've been blogging a lot less, spending more time studying and researching.

I learned from your passion in Steemit @kevinwong, and other Steemians I think do the same-- I am sure. Thank you, hopefully we can be as successful as you.

Talking to girls lol.

where? haha

Random ass places. Tinder?

outdoor music festivals are okay again

Cool, get ready for the summer festivals?

its always summer here :p

Hey bro, I saw you last comment via micro-transfer about @steemitboard
How can I contact you? Discord? steem.chat?

oh i'm on discord as #kevinwong2341. i think steemitboard is firing off wrongly because i saw the message here and here

Damn, some code went into prod too early :(
Thanks for notifying!

I am busy waiting for moon. I will wait till skeleton days. :P

In all seriousness I am busy learning programing and researching crypto's. Too many crypto's these days. lol.

Having a high SP will certainly add followers.
Creating quality content is the main key to blogging, "content is the king"
Happy busied yourself with quality content to collect extra STEEM

@kevinwong busy busy busy! You know there are some people out there that when asked what has been keeping you busy lately, they will definitely say there were busy doing nothing.

I will definitely make a post about what has been keeping me busy lately and honestly, it's a post I haven't done on steemit.
Finally I just want to say no matter what family should be given attention too.

very good post @kevinwong, talking about busy, I think everyone in this world is busy, but sometimes they are busy with things that are not useful, so there is no satisfactory result. But if we are busy with work, or with something that is beneficial to everyone, and for our future, it does not matter. As the saying goes "time is money". So basically, use this time as best as you can, and never waste time, because time has never been waiting for us, but we have to chase the time. Thanks for sharing... :)

To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent.

cryptocurriencies are the future, thank goodness we are part of this..

I've been busy running around making preparations to leave my country and i've been gathering funds posting on Steem to do just that exactly, its going to be amazing to finally move out of this place and a big part of the funds in my savings for my travels are from Steem and i expect to have more funds by the time i'm ready to leave and i use the #busy tag a lot too :-D those 20c help a lot, although i wish i had followers with more Steem so i could take advantage of the bigger vote, but for now it is what it is :-D

I got your letter two weeks ago.
I've been trying to find time to write you back, but I'm very busy lately.
