We know that Easter derives from the celebration called the Jewish Passover which in Hebrew is called Pesach.
Holy Week is one of the most outstanding celebrations within Catholicism.
In the Holy Week the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is remembered on the third day after being crucified. At the end of this celebration, Lent begins.
For Christians Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday and ends with Easter Sunday or Easter Sunday.
During the Passover celebration, and it bears this name because it is what the Creator gave to this celebration when I ordained it in Exodus 12: 1-18
In Pesach the freedom of the Hebrew people of a slavery on the part of the Egyptians is celebrated, this celebration is one of most important of the Hebrew calendar and together with celebration of the Cabins (Sukkot), and pentecost (Shavuot) they are part of the three Pilgrimage holidays to Jerusalem.
The exodus tells the children of Israel led by Moses escaped from slavery and go to the desert where they survive thanks to the mercy of the Creator before arriving in the promised land.
One of the qualities of this festival is that they do not eat foods that ferment or have leaven, because when they left in a hurry the bread did not give them time to ferment. This bread is called Matza or unleavened bread.
One of the traditions of preparing for this holiday by doing a deep cleaning in the house to remove all the leaven that may exist, in the spiritual sense the leaven is compared with the ego, the pride and the lack of humility that is the great bad that we all have, that ego that we defend by heart and sword, many times without measuring the consequences.
So if you are Catholic, Christian or evangelical, you should celebrate Holy Week; but if you are of Jewish descent or you feel that everything related to the Jewish people draws your attention, I urge you to look for the roots of this great people, as it was said in the New Testament - you will know the truth and the truth will set you free ¨
We must always look for the roots of our encounter with the Lord. Excellent article @legaravito
