Cut Nyak Meutia is known as an Indonesian female hero from Aceh. This figure is known for his struggle with her husband against the Dutch colonialists. Cut Meutia is one of the figures in the history of Aceh's resistance struggle against the Dutch. Cut Meutia was awarded the title of National Hero in 1964 from the Indonesian government for his services against the Dutch colonialists.
Regarding her childhood, Cut Nyak Meutia was born in 1870 in Pirak area, North Aceh. Her father named Teuku Ben Daud Pirak a ulubalang (government leader) Pirak area and her mother named Cut Jah. Cut Meutia is the only daughter in the family. She has four brothers namely Teuku Cut Beurahim, Teuku Muhammadsyah, Teuku Cut Hasan and Teuku Muhammad Ali.
Her father Cut Meutia namely Teuku Ben Daud Pirak is known as a wise and assertive government leader in Pirak area. She is also known as a scholar in the area. Pirak area itself is an area that has its own system of government.
Toward the adult, Cut Meutia married a young man named Teuku Syamsarif known as Teuku Chik Bintara. But their marriage did not last long because of the nature of her husband who is considered weak and always want to work with the Dutch at that time.
Cut Meutia later married Teuku Chik Muhammad known as Teuku Chik Tunong. This Sumatran is the brother of Teuku Shamsarif, who was her former husband. Equalization of vision with Teuku chik Tunong which is equally opposed to the Dutch occupation of the earth of Aceh made Cut Meutia and her husband migrate to the mountains and fight against the Dutch with guerrilla tactics.
