Good evening community of Artists this time I bring you an exclusive process for you, a double portrait of a great band #TwentyOnePilots which currently consists of drummer Josh Dun and vocalist Tyler Joseph, originally Twenty One Pilots or "TOP" was formed by Nick Thomas, Chris Salih and Tyler Joseph but in 2011 Tyler was alone and after sharing with Josh this became an official member of TOP forming this duo so famous that I draw them today, is one of my favorite bands music and style is something that caught me from the first time I heard them, one of my favorite songs is House of Gold has a very bizarre video I recommend them without saying anything about the process.
I did not want to show so much of the background process, because as you can see, it is not so complex, it is done with the help of alcohol-based black markers and rules. The secret here is to do it calmly without going beyond the limits to achieve this effect, sincerely I do not stay so well but it fulfills its purpose, it's fun to see only the background and the base lines of the faces, do not you think?
Let's start with Josh
Sincerely, TOP Josh is my favorite the energetic way to play the drums is just too cool, here I started to make the base shades as always with gray and black color, leaving the lights and shadows of Josh's face defined.
Here I show you the small but important details you make on the basis of grays, these little dots that make the look of Josh's beautiful facial make them with a lot of patience so that none was out of place, it is preferable to draw them now before placing color that after since the more layers of color have less color will be to pass the black color to make the beard, is a small tip that I leave sometimes it is better to mark details at the beginning than at the end when you have already passed many times the color on the area .
Here I started with their typical red eye makeup, in this picture Josh wore red hair but it is not a characteristic color since it usually changes color frequently, here I gave a clear skin color base leaving blank areas for the eyes. shines more than everything from the nose.
With darker skin tones I darkened the shadows and marked a little more the red area of the eyes, something important when drawing eyes without lights in them is to be careful not to darken the eye so that the character does not look lifeless.
The cap was simple only to fill with black color but never forget the details before filling everything mark some lines with a pen without ink to highlight and so the seams of the cap were drawn, sometimes it is not wrong to leave personal details in the drawings , maybe they did not notice it but the label on the cap says "PETTER":D
The procedure is repeated with the shirt simply filling in completely black and Josh is finished.
Now we go with Tyler
Tyler's treble at the time of singing and his strange way of being makes me want to draw him, a gray base for shadows in the secret of the beginning of all my drawings, as with Josh his beard is done with great dedication to achieve a better effect, and of course maintain the realistic effect of the drawing.
Here you can notice how I color with a base of light skin color and as always leaving to draw it last, it is not something that should be done but it is an automatic skill in my sometimes difficult to ignore.
Take advantage that he was coloring with darker tones Tyler's face to color the mouth might not be noticed but try Tyler tones were a little darker and more defined than Josh.
When it comes to hair the best advice I can give you to draw it is always draw baselines of the direction of the hair as you can see below so it becomes a little easier to draw the hair because if not, they can begin to draw in a wrong direction and spoil the drawing and it is always better to prevent than to regret.
The hair after having the base lines of direction and shade can be filled with gray color when the required color of hair is black as in this case, giving it little brightness but the necessary for the effect, Tyler is usually shown with the hair painted black giving the effect of being a tattoo and in this picture it was like that, I filled it with black but I gave it some dim lights with dark blue color.
I hope you enjoyed this drawing of double portraits which took me 1 hour and 40 minutes to do, soon I hope to upload the link with the #TimeLapse of the process so you can enjoy it from start to finish until the next post community.
