This is particularly true for newbies. Many seem to be waiting for a whale to spread pixie dust on their posts. But they don’t seem to understand that there are only three dozen whales. A thoughtful comment to a post by a minnow or a dolphin will get noticed.

Yeah I agree. It is important to try to work up the scale.
A red fish isnt likely to garner the attention of a Whale or even an Orca. Instead, like you pointed out, go with a vote from a minnow or dolphin. As one moves up, then the possibility of getting the other heavier hitters is possible.
