Ecorean is a competition to create low-cost fuel-saving vehicles that measure the distance traveled per liter for fuel. Ecorean competition is celebrated every year in many countries including Japan as a Japanese heritage. This was the first time in Bangladesh that it was held. JICA and BUET mechanics department were the main sponsors of this competition to create environment-friendly cars. This year's 15th edition of 'Bangabandhu International Conference Center' was held in Dhaka. The final phase of the competition was held. In fact, this competition was organized to build 3-wheelers, but the 4-wheeler car would also be included in the competition. In the wheel and 3-wheeler section, 'Marcus' of BUET has topped the position.
Marcus's innovation
Marcus has introduced several new types of engineering concepts, which are possible to change depending on the purpose and circumstances of the use.
The main feature of Marcus outside the traditional trend, which is 2 wheels in front of it and 1 behind. Discovering a whole new steering system has given its new functionality. With clutch and gear shifting at the foot of the driver's hand, Marcus has great control facilities.
It is assumed that Marcus could be an alternative to motorcycles and even medium vehicles due to its energy saving, light weight, easy control system, external beauty, environmental-friendly and above all. It is possible to establish a timeless vehicle by modifying and modifying the current design.
Production process
Marcus was divided into two main parts of the production process: designing and applying.
Basically all the design process was done through the CAD software. Solidworks and CATIA have been used in this regard. Security measures and other goals have been ensured in every step through countless accounts and reviews for each structure of the vehicle.
After the completion of the design, the acceptance of the ingredients collected from the local market is examined in different labs and the work of making the structure starts. The main frame of Marcus has been made using a very light SS steel and hollow structure of alluminium.
Walton's 100cc engine has been used in Marcus according to the previous commitment of the competition. The supplied engine was a single cylinder air cooled genre, which included a self-ignition system.
The outer structure of the vehicle was made through Rexin and SS hollow pipes. And instead of motorcycle's mechanical RIM brake, Marcus's breaking system was developed with the Bye-cycle virtual break.
Cost
After the experiment again, Marcus's total cost stood at 43 thousand taka. Marcus thinks that if it is produced in multiples, then Marcus's market price is limited to 50 thousand rupees!
