Hello Steemians, this is my 19th day on Steemit!
So far in my 19 days, I was only able to contribute a few translation works to an open-source project, engage with a few fellow Steemians and some I followed, but I didn't really got the time to write my own posts. I was thinking of doing something more that can add value to the platform or somehow help other Steemians. Sure, I can always upvote or resteem good quality posts. However my upvote doesn't help others make much since I am still a Plankton. I also find resteeming to be an ineffective way of promoting others' posts. Most of us would just ignore resteems since we are mostly looking out for the blog posts of those we followed.

Thus, my idea to start the Steeming Finds Day.
The #steemingfinds is just a compilation of what I personally think are resteem and upvote-worthy posts related to a certain topic of my choice. They don't need to be curie-worthy posts, but they must be thought-stimulating.
I know that there are already a lot of curation efforts done by good curation teams or blog post promoters, such as curie, qurators, ecotrain, and dropahead to name a few. But I think not everyone gets a fair chance of getting noticed by these curators for the following reasons:
- Each of us has our own sets of interests. For me, this can greatly influence the curation process. It won't be easy for curators to asssess the quality of something which they can't relate to.
- Set of guidelines. Some curation efforts require that nominated authors' reputation be within a specific range. Others require them to have written blog posts consistently. In which case, newbies can hardly qualify.
- High curation standard. While there are those who can write high-quality and well-researched content, there are also others who may not be too good at putting their thoughts into words but can spark ideas, provide entertainment, or challenge conventional matters.
Well, this is not to say we should also promote spammy, plagiarized, or low quality posts but this is just to encourage authors to write about the things that they like or understand best. This way, Steemit will be flooded by posts of a wider range of topics and not only about art, photography, travel, cryptocurrency, and other popular tags. If only each of us would spend enough time daily to read and leave our thoughts on a few good posts that catches our interest (not only by those we follow or those listed under popular tags), then I think no Steemian would ever get left behind.
At the last part, I also try to include links of contests related to the subject if I find some. There's no better or easier way to encourage people to engage in this community than having them join contests!
Now, if you agree that this is a good way to support other Steemians, especially newbies, please feel free to use the tag #steemingfinds in your own compilation of resteem-worthy and upvote-worthy posts. I would love to know your thoughts on this. Please don't forget to leave a comment below.
Happy Steeming!
