I'm more interested in communities than SMTs as getting people together is likely to be a bigger draw. I don't fully get what benefits SMTs bring. If they are similar to the tribe tokens, but better, then they have real uses. I just wonder if this diversity of tokens is sustainable.

Not all tokens on steem will survive, not all altcoins will even survive.

That's how new economies work. Someone does a thing like Bitcoin and people try to recreate it. The best and the brightest make better ideas, leverage marketing, partnerships and more to survive. It has happened with every emerging technology. Not all the .com s survived but some did.

Say 'leverage' one more time, I dare ya...lol

There is nothing wrong with using the word 'use', instead.Honest.
People have been using it for, like, centuries!
