That's me, @sushie and Andrew Nevin(PhD) Chief Economist & FS Advisory Leader PwC Nigeria at Coinfest Nigeria
I'm traveling back home now. I've had quite a fantastic trip but it came with a lot of crucibles. I've had to spend through my nose and face excruciating delay on my way from Lagos to Abuja but I achieved my objective. That makes me happy. Steem Shilled! Mission Accomplished!!
My mission was pretty simple, SHILL STEEM!
"Shill" is probably not the best word to use, but I just like the way it sounds. It sounds really cool.
"Shill" as used here, means to promote or advertise or create visibility for Steem and not to swindle people because I was paid to do so.
I wish I got more support for my promo-steem activities. My transportation and accommodation cost a lot more than I make from post reward. It is important that Steem is duly represented at programs like Coinfest Nigeria. We need more value adders and entrepreneurs in the Steem ecosystem.
I made a presentation on the topic "Introduction to Steem and Steemit". My Audience was an international one. After the presentation. I was bombarded with questions from right, left and center. I find it really amazing that some people have never heard of Steem. Some people will never care. They only care about buying an ICO for $1 and selling it for $100 dollars in a couple of weeks.
Some of the questions that people asked shows that people are really looking for the solutions that we are providing. Things like an uncensored decentralized social media that won't bombard people with ads or sell their data to whoever. Some people were interested in SMTs, others talked about vote buying and complained.
At several points in my attempt to shill Steem I would ask myself under my breath if it really worth it? What do I stand to gain from all these my overzealous activities? What's in for me?
Why should I really care?
While I was talking with the CEO of Blockchain solutions(Mr. Lucky) about Steem, he asked me this same questions. He said, "why are you doing this?". I had offered to open an instant account for him. At that moment a lot of thoughts flashed through my mind. The low price of Steem, my expenses, the fact that most of these guys at the event don't actually care about anything but their individual projects.
It was at that same moment some names came to my mind. Names like @stellabelle, @donkeypong, @thejohalfiles, @teamsteem, @surpassinggoogle, @infovore, @papa-pepper,
e.t.c. These people have entrusted me with their upvotes at one point or the other because they perceived that I bring value to the Steem blockchain. I remembered that it is my responsibility as a Steem Ambassador. And although at that moment there was nobody monitoring me, although there was no one who was going to ask me for a report(no sort of accountability whatsoever), although I had no obligation, I was obligated to my conscience and my voluntary decision to be a Steem Ambassador.
I'm writing this post as I prepare to leave Abuja to Ibadan. I traveled to
Abuja for Coinfest Nigeria, a yearly cryptocurrency conference. I made a presentation on Steem and Steem applications. I've been uploading pictures for the past couple of days because the network here is terrible and I barely get five minutes of good internet. I decided to drop this now that the internet is pretty good. I have to go now. I have to catch up on news that I have missed while I was away from the internet.
See you later.
This post touched the deepest part of my heart. I could feel the passion while reading it. You have given a lot to the @Steemit Community. You have given your time, talent and resources. Traveling round the country to promote Steemit is not an easy one at all. I know this because I have traveled severally too to do this.
This journey to coinfest 2018 is not left out, you suffered disappointed, lost money, and so much. You went through a lot to make this trip a reality.
But keep doing all you do. Your reward would definitely come. Steem on @Steem-ambassador @Tojukaka. Your works inspire so many.
Wow @tojukaka. You're really living the dream.
I first heard of you from @samstickzz and my curiosity led me to follow your blog.
I can only wish you the heavens as your starting point.
Where you said
Now this really touched me. Like for real.
With great power comes great responsibility.
Tho it's uneasy on you, you're more than ready to wear the heavy crown of being a model ambassador.
More grace to you brother.
This is so touching @tojukaka. Thanks for representing @Steemit platform well @coinfest2018 God will richly reward you for all the sacrifices and hard work you have put into this great platform. I wish u safe trip back to Lagos, Nigeria
Heck yes!
Thank you for promoting steem!
You are a steem king!
Sadly, I missed your presentation at the Event yesterday trust you did a great job.
Truly, you've made huge sacrifices and campaign to grow the Steem community in Nigeria and even beyond...It is really a huge challenge. I just hope the challenges that holds in the steem community be looked into and possible solutions proffered...
"Steem Shilled! Mission accomplished!!!"
Not only are you a proud son of Nigeria, @tojukaka You're a valued Ambassador for the whole Steemit Nation. I would not be concerned about the reactions, a seed was planted and will grow in the minds of the right people in due time. From America, I salute you!

Wow..
This is really inspiring..
@tojukaka please do keep up the benevolent and selfless spirit.. though the result won't come now, because it isn't easy to promote @steemit here in Nigeria. But surely you would be happy you did, your rewards will definitely come someday (I pray) and mostly you would be glad you were able to put smiles on faces of nation.
Ride on bro. Wishing you all the best in your quest to change the world for the better. Poverty must bow in our land. God bless you bro.
Wow, you know if we could get a lot of selfless people like you on steemit or in the world, am so sure the world would be a better place and the community would be better.
Should i say thank you, lolss
You are truly an ambassador👏👏👏
I really admire the work you doing you take time to enable steemit reach out to people despite the hurdles you got from ur trip u still push through that's something I have learnt from you never give up and always be positive, good job someday your hardwork would yield great rewards. Love you bro
This was where caught my attention.
I don't do what I have to do because of any reward. I do what I have to do because I know for sure it will impact the lifes of others. Let's assume these people turn out to become investors and the value of steem increases to 10 dollars per steem I think you have gone along way to help those newbies who are using their little earning as a medium to get by
Thanks @tojukaka for doing what you were supposed to do
WE are so proud of you. Keep winning boss!
Congratulations sir. Have a safe home coming.
Well done @tojukaka. As an ambassador of good works you don't care about what will be the initial thought of your audience because they will still come around to understand.
I wish you a safe journey @tojukaka,Lets keep pushing ahead for better results.
Well done sir. Keep blazing the trail. You were a great source of inspiration to me during my early days here. God bless your labor.
@penauthor
@Tojukaka.... I really appreciate your effort to publicize steemit community. From your point, I understand and I corroborate with you that you that "the project is worth more than just mere votes" but it requires a lot of money and rewards due to your expenses. I wish the steem board and other whales on steem can be in your support to ensure proper development of steemit community.
