Bicycles from another era/Bicicletas de otra época

Bicycles from another era

of other times.
It was the year 1870 when they appeared what they called velocipede (in Latin means, fast feet)
Today this piece seems strange and insecure.
But it was a great step for humanity.
A means of clean transport and without noise.
This one that we have here for many years will surely have an interesting story to tell.

This is already more evolved and looks more like modern ones.
But it also has many years.
With its handlebar type bull horns.
His saddle made of leather and pine nuts.
With it you had to feel like you were flying.

Then there are the ladies' bicycles.
The bar is lower so it can be lowered comfortably.
In those times that dressed as a lake with refajos and sallas.
The ladies in those times had a career ahead, be like men.

The children did not miss the new fashion either.
These are something different.
The bicycle was a horse and the children could dream of Indians and cowboys.
To think that they were in the meadow and were free.
I imagine that only well-off children had it since at that time poverty was with the workers and this was a modern and expensive contraption.
Here we can see that it is almost perfect, the horse still keeps its mane tail.
How many dreams made over him.

Here is almost the normal bicycle
Its seat with springs makes bumps feel less.
A pretty horn alerts the passers-by that she arrives.
Which is light and silent.
Its already light metal frame and thinner wheels.
Also the back grill to bring the packages of purchases.

Today there are bicycles for each person personalized.
Parra mountain, road, for the disabled and for children.
It is a means of transportation that is now used a lot because it does not pollute.
But these were the first steps of that machine so amazing that in 1870.
I revolutionize the transport.
Today museum pieces and old memories.

ehy dear @txatxy, nice post today! with your photos you have taken us back in time, it is always interesting to know how certain things are born that we take for granted! who put together two wheels and pedals? I read that the first invention of a bicycle-like machine dates back to 1817 thanks to the German baron Karl von Drais, but this bike had no pedals and was pushed with the feet !! how many things you learn !! have you been to a bicycle museum?
congratulations on curie and on your article

Hello @txatxy
His contribution was found in the Curie list.
I love bicycles.
I never had one but I did have good cousins who lent me theirs.
I had a velocipede for children at age five.
Oh, I didn't remember, where is it?
Stay great!

I love this kind of old bicycles. The new ones are so ugly in comparison to these. I got my bike a couple of years ago and of course I bought a retro bike in mint color - so nice!

Thank you for sharing! It's a great post with a nice collection of photos :)

A very evocative journey in time. No question about the revolutionary nature of the bike. I think that many years will pass before it goes into oblivion. Who nows, maybe with all this pollution going on and transportation issues in many countries, we can go back to environmental friendly means of transportations and make bike compulsory.
At least people will be healthier

There is information and nostalgic in this post. Good to know and see some old category cycles which never seen earlier. It is really funny to see the horse shaped seat and springs that might be the earlier version of shock absorbers: The pictures looks good too.

Many people still love the cycles despite having bikes and cars in the home. See how it has been decorated in the home with the small replica of cycle in the drawing room!
