The problem with the handball rule in football - Please Discuss

in #busy6 years ago (edited)

Loving the world cup (watched more of this one than all previous ones put together probably). Just wish commentators would stop talking crap about 'unnatural arm positions' when a player slides to the ground and ends up accidentally (probably )blocking a shot / cross with his outstretched arm.

What do they expect? People to slide on their arses with their arms held tightly against their sides? 😯

THAT would be unnatural.

They should change the rules to make accidental unintentional handballs illegal if they want to give half the penalties they give these days. But as things stand, I'm sure they have to be intentional and I'm fairly sure only Luis Suarez is the only player I've seen who ever did an indisputably intentional handball.

Anyway, whinge, whinge, whinge....

And this is with the newly introduced VAR (which is great in principle and being used well but still somehow resulting in ridiculous decisions being made.)

That's for sure. The VAR system does not justify itself.

It's early stages but unless world football's totally incompetent - it can only get better. :)
