Tryingtodoart - B&W Photo Contest Entry ~ Travel

Hi, fellow Steemians and fellow Photographers!

I feel like pushing my luck, going for a hat-trick and entering @daveks' contest after winning a 1st prize two weeks ago and a 3rd prize on the last week contest.

These contests are so much fun and interesting. The photographers shortlisted and have such good content and seeing my work next to theirs is a great honour. A big thank you to @daveks for organizing, @papa-pepper for sponsoring, and to @sweetsssj for being our guest judge this week.

For all the fellow photographers interested in the contest, here is a link to the theme and rules: https://steemit.com/bwphotocontest/@daveks/b-and-w-photo-contest-new-theme-announcement-travel

The theme is TRAVEL. Hmmm, it took me a long time to think about this one.

Is it me the one traveling or the subject? What is traveling? Just going from point A to B? Transportation? Vehicles? Umbrellas next to the beach and cabans in the mountains? Paris, NY, Tokyo? An unknown village or a crowded metropolis? All of the above? I guess it's all about the reference point. A picture of Eiffel Tower won't be a picture in the Travel category for a Parisian.

For me, this theme is so diverse that I decided to enter three totally different point of views.

On one hand, you have the destination and the itinerary. For most of the people travel is planned. A fixed route, that takes you from A to B, and back. Just like a bridge connects two islands of ground at the same height. This shot I took while I was travelling around Northern India.

You can't travel if you're not a traveller. And from this point of view, there's a saying that life itself is a journey. And another saying, this one I know only in Romanian though but I feel lucky today, mentions that each one of as has it's own cross to carry. I don't know why a cross should be associated with travelling, but hey, we all do have luggages. I prefer travelling light, but this guy here, took it literary.

Lastly, there's the unknown. The wide unknown. Or tall. It depends on how you look at it. Here (India again) the vegetation through an ultra wide lens created this fairytale image. What's the point in traveling (or living) if you already know whatever is supposed to be happening? That's why you should enjoy every tiny part of it. That's why I prefer trains. Or cars. Or the longer rides. Life is what happens between deadlines, between what you already know.

I hope I didn't go too metaphorical on this one. But it feelt good to rant nonsense here. The shots above were created with a Canon 600D (1st and 3rd) while the second was with a Canon 400D.

I wish you all a great Monday and, as always, thank you for stopping by!
