Told you we'd make it--but with just half an hour to write this post, and a ton of music in KLPC's archives to take care of, I really wish it were much, much more. Had things gone better earlier today, you would've seen our next Notebook entry (i.e. behind the scenes of Reflections, plus--big surprise!--last night's laying of the groundwork for our first draft of Unspooled #1...after many, many months of waiting for a big break; too bad I was unable to text the upstate aunt on that). But that, dear friends, is an account that must wait until next time.
Since at least a month has gone by without any substantial updates or otherwise from this Captain (blame the overwhelm stemming from my music-collection efforts as of late, four volumes in), here are a couple of filler tidbits for insurance policies. (Unlikely to be noticed anyway because the one-week earnings deadline has long passed.)
- October 13:
To tell you how far Myspace has fallen in recent years (in this "404 Files" briefing): They gave up on an official app ca. 2016-17. That, plus the 50+ million tracks of music they lost to data corruption during a server migration a while earlier. Way to go, Oldspace.
Meanwhile on Anthro Alley, I recently discovered one "ura_niwa" by handle at Pawoo--via a "toot" by "Sanae" (whom a few Inkbunny users may be familiar with), via a "toot" by "PreciousRat" (on the recent posts section). (Pawoo is an artwork-oriented instance of the Mastodon fediverse, whose sites function similarly to Twitter.) NSFW content abounds on his feed (and almost all others' there), but I'll make a conditional exception by showcasing the latest of his OC, a puppy named Mameta-kun. As far as I've browsed, "ura_niwa" (also known as "niwani_watori" on skeb.jp) also specialises in Touhou fanart now and then; if you haven't been in that franchise's fan-music scene within the past year, chances are you haven't recognised Cirno the ice fairy yet--but the KLPC curators (pre-COVID) sure have already.
Last but not least: Since this is hive.blog, and microposting won't cut it here, I must resort to filler text from the pages of classic literature--again. (Remember the start of Alice?) Without further ado, feast your eyes on the immortal opening paragraph of Melville's Moby-Dick. Lord, I actually remember getting a kick out of reading the whole thing from beginning to end while on a visa trip in Barbados, back in 2005.
Call me Ishmael. Some years ago—never mind how long precisely—having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people’s hats off—then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me.
Speaking of literary greats, I am due to match Samuel Pepys' diary-keeping tenure (by timespan, if not entry count) in a couple of years. I similarly took note back when we were on Google+...oh, Heavens, don't get any longtimers started on that (or while we're at it, the soon-to-be-phased-out GPlay Music).
Regardless, many thanks to those friends, users, and visitors who've come and gone since early March 2012 or February 2019 (depending on where you first met me). Special thanks here to @Ecency [my current client], @hivebuzz [formerly @steemitboard], @ChrisInPhuket [our latest follower], @bleuxwolf [one of the only furries on this platform], @steevc [a fellow Plus-to-STM migrant], and several others I don't have time to mention.
Until we meet again, please take care, happy listening, stay connected, wipe everything down...and God bless.
All of us, and Mr. Floyd's family.
Onward and upward...
