There always comes a time, when I say "stop, this needs to be arranged from the start to make it clean".
So I started to plan and build up my new home-network.
- 5 VLANs (Internal, VoIP, Entertainment, Servers and Guest)
- dedicated firewall (OPNSense Appliance)
- new server for monitoring and other systems
- my old 24+4 ports DLink-Switch
- 4 raspberries (more are planned, but as there is no usecase right now, they can wait)
The first step after calculating the subnets, was how to arrange the components in the networking-rack:
After that step was done, I had to configure VLAN-participation on the switch and put all network-cables in place.
( if anyone knows good techniques to put lables on those cables, just let me know. Dymo-labels bend backwards caused by their own tension and the glue is not strong enough)
And this is what it looked like before, really shameful :-(
Hope you liked this restructuring.
please leave your comments and hints ;-)
