Cointreau Chocolake Cake From Stubbe Chocolates

Hi there. Here is a different post by me. It is a cake review.

Stubbe Chocolates

This cake was for a birthday. I went with Stubbe Chocolates. They are based in Toronto and was a place I used to go to a while back when I rented in Toronto. Stubbe Chocolates specializes in chocolate, candies as well as cake. In the downtown Toronto core there is Soma Chocolate which is a very good choclatier but they don't do cakes. I went with Stubbe.

The chef Daniel Stubbe was trained in Germany and was trained by his father in Chocolate. He immigrated to Ottawa, Ontario and then relocated to Toronto.

Here is the picture of the Cointreau Torte cake from their website. I went with the small size which serves 10. The small size of this cake is 50 dollars Canadian. From late December 2024 to mid February 2025 the Canadian government declared no tax on select items. Cake is tax exempt during this period.

As my location was far from the chocolatier, I was okay with paying 15 CAD for delivery. There was no point driving to there for free pickup and come back home to outside of Toronto. The total for this cake is 65 CAD. It is costly but for a special occasion like a birthday it is not too bad. The cake serves 10 so 1 slice comes to 6.50 CAD per slice.

Pictures & Review

These pictures are from my Redmi Note 13 Pro phone.

Here is the box with their logo sticker and instructions.

The cake did arrive similar to the picture from the website. This cake does have a lot of chocolate on it and in it. There is the chocolate outside layer with orange peels on top. The ten orange peels on the top can be used as guides when it comes to cake cutting. You can easily cut ten slices from this cake.

This cake is quite dense. It is not a fluffy light cake. There are many layers of dark chocolate and cake packed into this. One slice is actually quite filling. For a family of four, leftovers are likely assuming each person has 1 slice each.

Those who are not fans of dark chocolate may not like this type of cake. Dark chocolate fans are likely to love this type of cake.

Rating: 9/10
