A long time ago I put a negative review explaining why I hated this game compared to the previous two Black Ops. By a long time ago I mean 2 years ago. A lot has changed in that timeframe, including my opinion on this game, atleast by a little. I still feel the same way about the multiplayer, the base game maps are awfully designed, the zombie map it comes with is the worst Treyarch made map there is, didn't try the campaign but from what I heard it was also awful. All this turned me off from this game, immediately making me regret my purchase. In fact, the ONLY reason why I bought this game to begin with was because it's the only (atleast at the time) split screen CoD game on PC, and that night I was having company over so this made me want to purchase it. After a few days with it I decided to uninstall and leave a negative review explaining my hate for the game.
Around a year later I took down the review, forgot what sparked my interest in this game but I asked my friend if he would play with me if I bought the season pass, because I wanted to see if the DLC zombie maps were improved upon the repugnant Shadows Of Evil map. I gave them all good tries and still hated the game. The only DLC map I thoroughly enjoyed was (and still do) Revelations because of it's beautiful design and atmosphere and the amalgam of all the classic maps with some twists to it.
However, what made me change my mind about this game is the DLC: Zombies Chronicles. Most of the maps that are contained in that DLC made me love this game, and it seems a lot of people agree with me, making it the best sold DLC of 2017 on PSN. It contains 8 completely remade maps in the BO3 engine, not ports, not remasters, complete remakes. While a couple I thought was unnecessary or should of been replaced with another map, I've been having a blast on all of them. On top of that is the comeback of custom maps and officially supported by Treyarch themselves! An astounding decision by them indeed. Custom maps were only for World At War but that changed with the Workshop came around on BO3. While I still hate the multiplayer, still not interested in the campaign, hate the maps that BO3 has (with the exclusion of Revelations) I will say that I am happy with my purchase of this game and is so much fun when you're playing with friends. If you are buying this game for the Zombies Chronicles and the workshop content, I say don't hesitate. But only if you have friends to play with. If you're not interested in old content and want new content to play, I say don't purchase because atleast for me I was extremely disappointed.
Also The Giant (remake of Der Reise) is amazing as well.
