So, weed is legal in Canada Eh?
Not quite yet.
It appears that it will be soon, however there are a few things you should know if you live in Nova Scotia:
Where will you be able to buy it?
Only at NSLC (Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation). There will be NO private retailers able to sell recreational weed in Nova Scotia. The province has established 12 locations.
Who will supply NSLC?
Federally licensed growers (sounds like we've got a monopoly happening here).
Can I drive while high on weed?
No indication as to how they will determine IF you are high, but the short answer is no, you can't drive while buzzed. Apparently the province has a set of rules on this that include fines, suspensions or more severe penalties.
Can I grow my own?
Yes, but only up to four plants per household....I wonder how they'll be tracking that???
Where can I smoke it?
Basically only in the privacy of your own home.
How much weed can you have on you in public?
As long as you are of age (19 or older here) you can have a maximum of 30 grams in your possession while in public. How much can you keep at home? The sky is the limit there....
As more information becomes available, I'll post an update.

Man, is that Cheech and Chong I hear playing in the background???
uP In sMoKe ;) Bout time they legalized something that actually is beneficial to the human body and not detrimental such as alcohol. I'm glad they're allowing people to grow their own but really should one have to have permission? I don't think so but then again the lone user/ grower isn't just battling the authorities he's battling the misinformed, ignorant public(not all). I think it's great news but it's all about the money/control.
All great points: permission/ battling authorities, misinformed, ignorant.....but you nail it with money and control. Because medical marijuana is already legal here, why not allow the existing facilities already in place, with suppliers, provide it to the public? Nope, we'll use OUR government controlled, regulated facilities to ensure maximum profit and control. All you small businesses that worked hard to grow your business can go f... yourselves.
This is a real bone of contention with existing providers but I doubt we'll see any change in the proposed distribution system. I'll keep updating as this moves along.
I wholeheartedly agree, well said.
definitely good news for you ... The forbidden causes problems, the legal is better used.
It will be good news for many.
Hello friend Brimax, I tell you that Sativa Cannabis has its properties. It is to be limited, that here it is used as an aid for certain diseases, my husband recommended it to the doctor to alleviate the nausea produced by chemotherapy, and medical studies refer him since they have been proven by scientific studies. The most conclusive results affirm that marijuana is effective for the treatment of chronic pain, the reduction of nausea after chemotherapy and the reduction of the symptoms of multiple sclerosis. Of course, this is in older adults, just as its use is prohibited, I think that because they are forbidden, they commercialize it. 30 grams at home are very helpful, my mother used it mixed in cane liquor, for joint pains and really relieves, I will continue waiting for more news about legalization and your personal opinion about the subject. greetings friend @brimax
It sounds like you have a good understanding of the medical benefits. In a way it's rather sad that we live in a world where we allow someone else to dictate which plants we can consume and which ones we cannot. Perhaps the pharmaceutical industry has a synthetic alternative they are ready to release which will be "better" and "cheaper" sending the plant off to the wayside. I will provide an update on this as it progresses here in Canada.
Hello Friend how are you? How are Anis and Candy? the harvest as it goes? if they must legalize it but only for medicinal use and with its proper rules of use so that ill-intentioned people do not abuse
It has been legal for medicinal purposes here for a long time. These new rules will make it legal recreationally, kinda of like alcohol.
Both girls send you a warm hello!
Fantastic post friend good
Thanks
Can I grow mine?
Yes, but only up to four floors per home ... I wonder how they will track that?
My attention is called to this question that you asked, also ask me the same question as you are going to do it? I think it's a complicated thing, many houses are going to have plants of these and surely they will be more than 4 this should only be medicinal and I think they should have it more controlled let's see how it goes
hahahaha I think I also listen to them in the background Cheech and Chong
Neither of us smoke it, so it is unlikely we will grow it. Although as we learn more about it we might consider growing a plant to fruition, then making a medical concoction, followed by a video of how we did it. Like you said, we'll see how it goes.
I do not like this idea very clearly, there are people who need it because they are indicated by the doctor and they are for their health
I hope people do not abuse this and handle it with a lot of prudence and maturity is ideal
Friend, how are you? How is Candy and @anise?
I guess once the program rolls out we'll start to hear statistics about how many people are being pulled over while driving under the influence of it.....which may indicate how many are just using it to get wasted.
