Good work on prevention! Most of insects will choose chlorophyll rich tissue indeed as it's mostly made of nitrogen, which is light for their stomachs. Some will actually prefer nutrient dense stuff though. I never had mites in my life, but I know they're pervasive in US. I fight borers and thrips outdoor, but I got better at it recently.

With my lifestyle, living in the woods with a 150lb dog, my house is full of bugs! Which makes for much better plants imo! Predators are a must.
I never worry about bugs on my outdoor plants. Had some thrips one year, but minimal damage. So many natural predators outside, I try to maintain a lot of good places for spiders to breed & live. Then I just worry about the mold
