Can I get a prescription for medical cannabis?
"Very few people are likely to get a prescription for medical cannabis" - Says the British National Health Service.
Nope, unfortunately medical cannabis has not been legalized in the United Kingdom. Even after November headlines raved on about how medical cannabis was now "legally available on the NHS", it turns out that nothing has actually changed. But in all fairness, none of those articles ever did state that raw cannabis was going to be legalized for medical use, none of them ever stated that the scheduling of cannabis had been changed, and none of them ever stated that we would be able to independently access medical cannabis products. Medical cannabis legalization in the UK was all just based in assumption and promoted through the ignorance of only reading media headlines.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-45822629
"Former justice minister Sir Mike Penning, who was among those appealing for Alfie Dingley to be given a special licence for medicinal cannabis, welcomed the announcement but said there were still unanswered questions about which treatments would be rescheduled."
"Any move to restrict medical cannabis in the UK to a very narrow range of derived products, thereby blocking out the many products available overseas, will lead to great disappointment and be a missed opportunity."
This bbc news article is a perfect example of the news articles that many people were sharing at face value, it reads: Doctors can prescribe medical cannabis from November in UK.
However when you read the full article and follow the link that it directs you to, you can see that it's clearly a misleading headline. Within the link it states "Specialist doctors in the UK will be able to legally prescribe cannabis-derived medicinal products" and "Only those that meet safety and quality standards are to be made legal for patients with an 'exceptional clinical need'".
Besides the fact that none of these articles ever truly stated that cannabis was actually going to be legalized for medical use, hundreds if not thousands of people shared them and acted as if it was anyway.
The masses having never read the contents of the articles or having done any further research on the true "ins and outs" of what was being spoken about, in my opinion, actually allowed for typical smoke in mirrors to be created. Once again the mainstream media was allowed advertently lie and pave way for the government to quietly derail a movement.
This particular NHS article annoyed me when I seen it being shared, take a look at this, it's packed with misinformation, propaganda and fear porn.
"Many cannabis-based products are available to buy online, but their quality and content is not known. They may be illegal and potentially dangerous."
"It's likely most of these products – even those called "CBD oils" – will be illegal to possess or supply. There's a good chance they will contain THC, and may not be safe to use."
"The main risks of THC cannabis products are:
psychosis – there is evidence that regular cannabis use increases your risk of developing a psychotic illness such as schizophrenia
dependency on the medicine – although scientists believe this risk is probably small when its use is controlled and monitored by a specialist doctor"
How un-empowering is that?
Why don't we get shown things like this instead:
"Invasion and metastasis of aggressive breast cancer cells are the final and fatal steps during cancer progression. Clinically, there are still limited therapeutic interventions for aggressive and metastatic breast cancers available. Therefore, effective, targeted, and non-toxic therapies are urgently required." (This alone highlights the urgency for cannabis legalization)
"We previously reported that cannabidiol (CBD), a cannabinoid with a low toxicity profile, down-regulated Id-1 gene expression in aggressive human breast cancer cells in culture."
"Using immune competent mice, we show that treatment with CBD significantly reduces primary tumor mass as well as the size and number of lung metastatic foci in two models of metastasis."
"The results have the potential to lead to the development of novel non-toxic compounds for the treatment of breast cancer metastasis, and the information gained from these experiments broaden our knowledge of both Id-1 and cannabinoid biology as it pertains to cancer progression."

You know..? How about trying to educate and inform us all about what cannabis is working, and why it is working.
Don't you find it rather convenient that when a medical cannabis product can't be taxed or isn't making big pharma a profit, it's bad and "potentially dangerous". But when the NHS supply the cannabis and are contracted to only buy it from specific companies like GW pharmaceuticals (who are charging £100 per gram for it), it then suddenly becomes safe and is no longer dangerous.
This is a medical monopoly. This whole thing is about profits, not patients. It always has been about profits, and at this rate it always will be unless we all take the blinkers off and loose rose tinted glasses that all seem to love so much.
We (the general public) get told that only GW pharmaceuticals version of cannabis is good enough. We (the general public) all get told that only their version of a plant product can be licensed in the UK, and we (the general public) get arrested, jailed or fined and can have our lives ruined by a criminal record if we go down any other line to obtain a similar medical cannabis product... and we (the general public) just accept this..?
Can't you see the hypocrisy and deception in that?
The injustice being committed against everyday common people..?
This full thing is quite literally a drug racket, it's an absolute joke... and a sick one at that. I don't think general people recognize the severity and seriousness of the situation that we just allow to exist, un-phased. The consequences of our ignorance, lack of sense of urgency, and lack of will to act on this, is costing people their lives.
Medical cannabis was only pushed forward for so called "legalization" in the recent months because cannabis oil from Canada was confiscated from an epileptic child's mother (Charlotte Caldwell) at Heathrow airport in England. Her son (Billy Caldwell) then began to have seizures shortly after this and Charlotte (his mother) publicly demanded that she got the medicine back.
That story went mainstream due to the nature of the issue raised, and thankfully Charlotte did get the medicine back for her son. Which in turn made a huge public case for medical cannabis to be legalized and managed to tip the scales in the favour of legalization by setting a public precedent in the mainstream media.
It was only after that particular incident that the UK government claimed to have heard the public's voice and recognized the medical potential in cannabis (even although the UK based company GW pharmaceuticals have been growing cannabis, and selling products like Sativex to over 30 countries for many years).
But here we are five months later and still nothing has actually changed in regards to the UK cannabis law. It was all once again just dragged out smoke in mirrors designed to bore the masses, spread out the hype and hush people.
The UK government were clearly forced to react to an unexpected hot potato, and in retaliation to that hot potato they made up a bunch of sweet sounding horseshit for a couple of months, plastered it all across the media using catchy phrases and false positive headlines, and discreetly pulled a fake comfort blanket right down over everyone's eyes in order to subdue them as the dust settled.
Just look, here we are, still in same situation as before, and no one is doing anything about it again. It was always legal to apply for a medical cannabis license, and a doctors word has always been above any corporation or government in regards to medical treatment. Nothing as changed.
This full thing is a complete absurdity, millions of people have once again been cheated out of justice and the right to freedom of choice. These so called "medicines" that we are being offered. "Epidiolex", "Nabilone" and "Sativex". They were always available on the NHS. But they are ineffective, and again in my opinion, they are designed to maximize profits not cure diseases. It's just like the synthetic cannabis that pharmaceutical companies are creating and selling. They are trying to create a product that they can patent and profit from, they don't want us to be independent. That's not profitable.
And yes, I know that this sounds like a "conspiracy theory" to some, but just do the research, cannabis wasn't always illegal. Cannabis was essential to the growth of society at one point, and with that said I think I've about said enough for one article. So I will leave you with the following video to have a look at and take some notes from. And as always, do your own research, challenge everything and keep it level.
Until next time,
Peace.
