PART 1: Harvesting and Hanging Under Pressure
Harvest time is here, and as always, is a hectic time attempting to beat the elements of the northwest to the punch. Part one of today's episode show me frantically preparing to harvest and hang all but three of my backyard plants. Despite having to take them a few days earlier than expected, these Mosterberry beauties still rendered fat buds with a good hefty of THC development. The best part is, its 100% organic.
The first sign of mold, combined with the weather, and the fact that I only had enough rain cover to protect three plants effectively anyway, were the main reasons why it was time to take down most of the plants.
PART 2: Rain Cover & the Sun's Return
In this quick segment, I show the cannopy I borrowed to protect my plants from the rain and morning dew. This kept my remaining three plants nice and dry, as well as mold free for the last few days. Giving these plants a few more days to develope will not only make the buds plump up more (since I was able to give them an additional watering/flush), but will also allow for more trichome development, which means higher THC content, and a more potent product.
PART 3: Drying Using Fans and a Dehumidifier
Here i explain how to dry cannabis with limited space. I was forced to use our bedroom to dry, and was having some trouble getting them to dry evenly at first. I was able to get them evenly and perfectly dry. At first, there was so much heat and moisture in the room that I had to burp the room (leave the door open to vent) for an hour here and there. Usually a small heater will help the drying process quicken, however this was obviously not necessary in this situation. This problem did not continue during the second round of drying for the last three plants.
I also demonstrate my shuffle method for drying the small buds from the lower parts of the branches. I prefer to separate these when harvesting, as it makes the trimming process much easier when you process the "smalls" by themselves.
PART 4: 1st Round Dry - 2nd Round Drying - Next Step: Trim
The final segments shows how the last three plants have been taken down, and how the first amount of harvested plants have already been properly dried, sorted, and binned. Those are ready to be trimmed.
You never want to hang freshly cuts plants in a room with other ones that are nearly done drying. Doing so will result in the moisture from the fresh buds redistributing to the buds that are almost dry, and re-hydrating them. This will cause all of your buds to take longer to dry, and is not an ideal way to dry in general.
Also, after pulling out the roots at the stalk of both the potted and in ground plants, I discovered that the in ground plants grew root balls, while the potted ones did not. That may have something to do with why in ground plants seem to always yield higher than potted plants.
