These last couple weeks have really done a number on me. The strain we have been working on in the trim room recently is called Deer Breath, which is a semi-legendary strain that was created due to an interaction at a Grateful Dead concert.
"This one is named in honor of Deer Creek where Chem Dog made his legendary connection at a Grateful Dead concert that would lead to him scoring the beans that changed the cannabis game forever......... This cross is a potent combination of the cookie lineage and the chem dog lines. For this project we took the clone only OGKB 2.0 and hit her with our Chem 91ix male from Top Dawg Seeds to create this intoxicating F1 cross! We expect very potent plants with this one considering the high cannabinoid profile coming from both the parents" (1).
As nice as this strain is, it is actually causing trimmers (including myself) quite a headache (literally and figuratively). @Hempress started breaking out in crazy deep red rashes all over her neck, shoulders, and back, and could not stop scratching her skin. The same happened to my other buddy, but he had to take twice the dosage of allergy medication that he normally would to partially subdue the side effects. The pollen dust kicked up from trimming this strain is unfortunately quite hypoallergenic.
I do not often have allergic reactions to cannabis strains, in fact I would say that I am extremely resistant to cannabis allergens compared to many other people. This strain is proving to be the exception to that in my universe. After trimming it for a couple days, I got a massive migraine after work. Today I went into trim and could only stay in the room for about five minutes at a time, as I was getting such bad chest pains, it felt like I was getting stabbed in the chest. This caused me to have to leave work early, and even now as I write this, I am still in a good amount of pain.

I am being forced to put in 6-7 day work weeks, and work 9-11 hours per day. My daily work does not stop there however. I have been going to sleep consistently between the hours of midnight and 3AM each night, which is usually when I have finished completing all my tasks (or at least close to), and then having to wake up at 7:30AM to go trim.
This is about to get worse.
Next week, we are moving trimming an hour away from Portland for the rest of the season, which means I will have to start waking up at 6AM. I have been dealing with similar circumstances during the entire fall and most of winter for the past five years, and my body and mind are telling me "enough is enough", and I highly doubt I will be working at the same spots next year. I plan to finish this year's project, and either take a year off to concentrate on music, Steemit, and Earth Conscious projects, or go all out and do a massive hemp grow with a couple friends I know in a different area. The latter would only be for one or two seasons, and could potentially earn enough to get us a house and land that we would own.
Currently we are not making anywhere near enough to accomplish obtaining land by paying for it outright, and we do not see that happening in the current situation we are in. We are overworked, underpaid, and "free time" in my life has become a thing of the past.. as well as a good nights sleep for that matter. How I keep up with everything else in the mean time is still beyond me, but I am making this all happen, and will continue to push through. My resolve has not weakened, but my faith in this particular cannabis path has, so it is time to find a new road.
If we were paid better, it may be worth it to continue, but there are many other factors at play that I have not mentioned as well, so maybe not even then. The bottom line is that @Hempress and I are not happy with our professional situation, and we will do what is necessary to be happy with that part of our lives again. I will always love cannabis, and working with it, but I think I would like it better if we did it on our own, for ourselves and friends only. Do you still want to work in the cannabis industry after hearing the lifestyle? There are lots of places who are looking for weed slaves if so. On average its about $3-6 per hour after everything is said and done, with way too many hours. For your consideration...

I had never even considered allergens with cannabis - thank you for mentioning that. I am sorry that you are not being compensated fairly for your work. I had imagined that this industry would pay better considering how lucrative it can be. You've got a clear goal in mind, these times are just bumps in the road that lead to better things, one day that land will be yours!
It is lucrative for those in charge... but with the severe drop in value of cannabis in Oregon last year, it has made those in charge cut even more corners than usual with the people who help them.
Here in New Brunswick, big businesses have set up big commercial grow operations in a few of the cities and everyone is celebrating 'more jobs'. I have a feeling they are going to be quite shocked at the wages and work load - your experience certainly put it into perspective for me.
If there is regulation on wages then it should be fine, but here with the medical system, there is no regulation of wages, when there really should be. But that is just the nature of medical - laze fare - its great when you have people that are fair about it.
Oh brother, be gentle with yourself, getting burned out is not good as you are well aware of. Life really is too short to be doing something that really is causing you pain. You are working a lot and I understand that you have a very clear goal in mind, but do not work yourself to death to get there. It will all happen, I say find another way, open yourself up to change and see what comes your way, I bet it will be great xxx But in the mean time take care xxx
Yup, just have to finish this season up so I do not get ripped off. I have to finish the season to reap any rewards.

Dude I got mad love and respect for you man, I wouldn't put up with that, I value my time so much more than that, and I see the work you are putting in for this planet and the people of this tribe, and you deserve better!!!

I love your articles, and everything that you promote, you are doing the right thing and are aligned with a greater purpose, don't waste that value on someone else's aspirations, especially if they aren't being of service to the planet or other people. Find other people that match up with your aspirations and team up with them, that's when you find true power!
Once you commit 100% to yourself and stop investing your time into other people, and your desires aren't conflicting with your thoughts, you will begin to take massive action, and when you take massive action you get massive results, coupled with the drive to do better for not only yourself but for others and the plant as well, you will begin to achieve more than you thought humanly possible!!
