On April 5th, 2018 the Connecticut General Assembly’s Appropriations Committee passed a bill that will help bring Connecticut one step closer to legal recreational cannabis sales. The bill passed 27-24 in favor and will now move on to the House of Representatives for further work and hopeful approval.
No one is sure how far the bill will get this session as it ends on May 9th. It was said that this was considered a work in progress and does not mean that the state is there yet. It does show the positive move towards recreational cannabis and the greater acceptance of the plant.
Connecticut will begin to see their neighboring state of Massachusetts begin recreational sales in July and this is bound to further press the issue with Connecticut. It simply makes it that much harder to police and enforce when a legal source will be readily available in July.
