Why people in London are paying £40-50 per gram of US-grown cannabis

Hey guys here's something I wanted to bring to your attention just to highlight the stupidity of cannabis prohibition in my home country.

How much would you pay for your cannabis?

In London and across other parts of the UK, there are a number of underground Amsterdam-style coffeeshops, which I will cover in detail in another post because it's really interesting stuff. I say Amsterdam style, but really there are a few differences.

A lot of these places in the capital sell "cali weed" (it doens't have to be Californian-grown, it's a slang name for any good quality bud imported from the US or Canada) at high prices, usually £40 or £50 per gram.

Some people are happy to pay this because there is a hype around this US imported weed in the UK. Because of this hype, people are able to take serious advantage and an oz can sell for £500-£900 sometimes, which is just crazy. Other people, particularly activists in the UK are taking issue with this online, but from offline experience within the London cannabis community I can say that people are paying the prices regularly; whether as a coffeeshop entry or just to sample some new genetics.

The bud is almost always good quality and generally smokes great from what I hear, but under the surface there are other concerns.

With regulations in US states prohibiting certain things e.g. PGRs, this tainted cannabis will likely be sold off on the black market. I'd bet that at least some of it is coming over here to be sold off in this way. So in addition to the high prices, we're not even sure if it's clean weed.

Not to mention the fact that you could travel from London to Amsterdam for the price of one-eighth of this weed.

I personally don't get involved with the imported strains over here because the prices are too expensive. I've been given some review samples on occasion and found them to be really nice, but would rather just fly out and experience a legal state at some point soon. The UK also produces some great strains itself!

Just some insight from somebody on the ground over here guys! I have plenty more to share soon, follow me for more.
