The Toronto police officers are now suspended after a highly susceptible incident late last week involving them eating marijuana edible while on duty and hallucinating.
Hallucinating from Cannabis... REALLY? MJ NOOB
Const. Vittorio Dominelli and his partner have been suspended last week for an "allegation" of ingesting marijuana edibles. How can one have an "allegation" of taking the marijuana edibles, either he did or he didn't... of course the police will never give you a straight answer when it comes to investigations of their own.
Police sources tell CBC News the officers began to complain of "hallucinations" and one made a call for an officer needing assistance. Both officers were found in a police vehicle and later treated in hospital. During the call, another officer responding to the scene slipped on ice and required medical attention. That officer suffered a head injury.
Recently the Toronto police carried out a raid at Community Cannabis Clinic, a marijuana dispensary. The news agency CBC News suggests the marijuana edibles the officers ingested are believed to have come from this dispensary. What is still unclear is if the officers participated in the raid over the weekend and if the edible were taken from that raid.
The tough questions not being asked is why were these cops eating edibles on duty, did they steal them in the raid and not report it as part of the inventory, and are they getting paid while being suspended? How could they not know what the partner's name is and why were they sitting in the car while "high on cannabis"? Shouldn't they be charged with DUI for even sitting in the car with the keys while being under the influence... anyone else would have been charged for if it was alcohol.
The case is still under investigation from the force's professional standards unit and no criminal charges have been laid against the officers pending the outcome.
We all have heard stories about cops breaking the same laws they enforce on everyone else...speeding, physical abuse and even drugs, yet most of the time these incidents are never investigated or swept under the rug. There is a double standard when it comes to laws and their enforcement, a set of laws for everyone... yet at many times the police believe they are above the law since they enforce them and don't prosecute their own.
Hopefully, this will not be the case when it comes to marijuana laws in Canada as it will be legal later this year. These officers were high and "hallucinating" from marijuana edibles, while on duty and sitting in a motor vehicle... the laws should apply to them in full force, more so than every other citizen since they currently enforce the same laws.
Mind you, our system is so messed up that they will be given suspension with pay, maybe a small fine after investigations and then back to duty enforcing the same laws they just broke. If it was anyone else, they would probably be charged with several crimes including possession of narcotics and possibly Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or the intention to and in many cases they would lose their jobs.
I guess this meme below doesn't apply to cops when it comes to marijuana possession and consumption, let alone these cops will rarely prosecute themselves...
One way to End the War on Drugs - Make the Lawmakers and Enforcers accountable for the very same laws, and to the full extent with a maximum penalty... else ask them to remove the laws they choose not to enforce on themselves.
Lmao! This has been all over the news. I read this article on what happened which asks the question if its even possible to truly hallucinate off Cannabis. https://www.theleafnews.com/news/the-leaflet-cannabis-newsletter-february-2-2018-472382733.html
@bluntsmasha, there were quite a few blogs and posts questioning whether cannabis causes hallucinations or not after this story about the 2 officers came out. There is so much misinformation about cannabis from Main Stream Media... they have no clue. Thanks for the upvote.
The sad thing is these misinformed are mostly the ones making the up coming laws for legalization. Or as most people i know call it, prohibition 2.0.
yup, legalization is just another form of prohibition... maybe worse, cause gov't will be the biggest benefactor of legalizing cannabis. They will earn most of the money in the sector, take no risks and create all the laws so they still control the whole industry. Just legally grow your own cannabis, especially in Canada.

So the double standard is alive and well in Canada.
Yup, just like pretty much everywhere in the world
That's sad
