Capitalism with a pinch of socialism is not a negative ideology if it is both transparent and void of legalized bribery. The roads we drive on are socialist constructs other than toll roads. The Veterans Administration (where I get my free medical coverage), Social Security and Social Security Disability Insurance, your local fire departments, your local and state police, local and state road crews constructing or repairing older roads and bridges, EMT's, and much more are socialist. Health insurance and car insurance policies are socialist. Theoretical we all pay (except non-profits) taxes or insurance premiums, yet one may have dire need of these services and others may never need the fire or police. Yet we all contribute to a pool for those who do need such services. That is the exact definition of a socialist system. Our advantage is that we have capitalism as well. We are poisoning this blend of capitalism and socialism, drifting toward crony capitalism which is based on bribery and greed: Not invention or innovation, and will not function correctly... but will eventually fail by consuming itself.
Socialism in limited doses is not a negative ideology if it remains both open and transparent, and is infused with Controlled Capitalism. What I mean by Controlled Capitalism is NOT that there should be layers upon layers of rules and regulations, but that the course must be flat (using a marathon runner’s analogy) with no pot holes in the competitors lane to prevent them from being presented with a fair opportunity to either win or lose based on their earned abilities or lack thereof. Competition, and may I say, both tough, rigorous and even heartless competition is imperative for progress to ensue, and there can be no advantage given which fails to be based on production and innovation. A level playing field must be maintained to sustain progress, therefore, in a perfect world, there would be absolutely no requirement for regulation. Regulation exists only as a deterrent to the natural tendency of the individual and the corporation toward laziness of greed. Greed is achieved by cutting the Achilles Tendon of the competing runner but not by running faster, pacing ones self or through proper diet, hydration, and prior planning and practice.
socialism is complete social ownership of the means of production. The means of production are controlled by the rich. You are thinking of social democracy not socialism.
