Jakarta - Closing itself from the outside world, not much information can be extracted about North Korea. Including the car. There is little information about cars circulating in North Korea.

North Korea actually has its own car brand under the name Pyeonghwa. In 1998, Pyeonghwa Motor Corporation was still under the banner of South Korea. This brand is deliberately created with the intention of bridging South Korea and North Korea.

Then, Pyeonghwa Motors General Corp. is working with a company from North Korea. Having a factory in Nampo, Pyeonghwa is the only brand that can assemble cars in North Korea.

In North Korea itself, car development is focused on military vehicles, not passenger cars. Besides assembling, Pyeonghwa is also the only company that can develop passenger cars there.

Pyeonghwa which means Peace, aka peace it produces several models ranging from sedans, SUVs, wagons, to pickup trucks. Some cars carry diesel engines and the rest are gasoline engines. The power of the car also varies from 60 to 200 horsepower.

The model was arguably not original. Because if noticed exactly similar to the car brands from Europe or China.

The Pyeonghwa plant itself operates in Nampo with a production capacity of 10,000 units per year. But the peak of its production
recorded at only 1,820 units in 2011. Launch Times of India, even in 2012, no Pyeonghwa cars are produced. All Pyeonghwa cars only rebadge Chinese cars.

In 2012 it is rumored that the entire operation of Pyeonghwa has moved to North Korea after many complaints about sales and little profit. Car parts began to be difficult to find.

Demand for cars in North Korea is not much. It is only certain people who are allowed to own a car.
