This Saturday (November 5th) in London RM Sotheby's will offer for sale several supercars like a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, the Ferrari LaFerrari and Enzo, two Bugatti EB110, a Lamborghini Miura (I like the design of this one by Marcello Gandini)... But if you follow my posts about cars, I'm more into classic cars like the Frazer Nash Mille Miglia presented in a previous post or the cars from the interwar period like the Delahaye 135M & 175S Today, just a quick look at some classic cars I would like to see in my garage like this Maserati 3500 GT Spyder :

1964 Aston Martin DB5
For the history, the Aston Martin DB5 was released in 1963 during the Frankfurt Motor Show with a design done by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, Italian coachbuilderfounded in 1926 in Milan. The DB5 series is more an evolution of the DB4 than a new model especially with the adoption of a new engine, 4.0 litre Tadek Marek designed. It became a car icon when it became James Bond's car in Goldfinger. During its production years (between July 1963 and September 1965), 1,021 examples were built.
This model (chassis number DB5/1406/R) was restored completely by Pugley & Lewis, specialists in Aston Martin restoration in England in 2015. And it was finished in original color schemet Goodwood Green over tan leather. Beautiful car, I could see myself behind the wheel whistling the Bond theme song 😀

1959 BMW 503 Coupé
Thanks to Max Hoffman, importer of European cars in New-York who wanted luxury cars for the US market, the BMW 503 was built to 413 copies between 1956 and 1959 of which 273 in Coupe version. It was designed by the German designer Albrecht von Goertz, best known for the BMW 507 (one of my favorite BMW). The 503 is equipped with 3.2-litre V-8 engine with five-speed manual gearbox. But with its high price, like the 507, it wasn't a commercial success.
This model (chassis 69359) is finished in beige over a tan leather interior. I really like the patina on the upholstery, so gorgeous...
🔨 Lot 54 : 1959 BMW 503 Coupé

1967 Citroën DS 19 Prestige
Citroën presented the DS in 1955 during Paris Motor Show. It was immediately a success thanks to its unique design and innovative technologies. The design of the low-drag bodyshell was penned by Flaminio Bertoni, Italian industrial designer and André Lefèbvre, French aeronautical engineer. The main innovative technology on this car was the hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension developed by Paul Magès. Until 1975, Citroën sold 1,455,746 examples in different models sedan, wagon, cabriolet... Hige success...
This example is powered by a 1,985 cc four-cylinder engine allied to a four-speed semi-automatic gearbox. And it was black with silver C-pillars overa light grey interior. DS in French is the pronunciation of the word "Déesse" "Goddess"... and it's just perfect as a name.

1958 Maserati 3500 GT Spyder
The Maserati 3500 GT is a grand tourer presented at the 1957 Geneva Auto Show, one of the first example of GT with series production done by Maserati. It was produced between 1957 and 1964 in two versions :
- coupé with a coachwork by Touring
- convertible by Vignale.
5 unbodied chassis was sent to Pietro Frua, coachbuilder in Turin. And this example (chassis AM101 268) was the only one styled in cabriolet spyder as submission for the convertible version. So beautiful... But Vignale won the contract.

What will be your choice between these 4 cars? For me, I think the BMW... but surely tomorrow morning it would be the DS or another. I want all 4 😀.

Great pics. some years ago I had a long trip in france sitting in the back of a DS for days. That was so lovely....
It must be cool to cross France behind the wheel of the DS and especially to have time to fully appreciate.
