I love cars and I always have. My sister made my obsession worse with a Worlds Fastest Cars book that she gave me in 1985 when I was 6. I was at the bookstore when she bought it and I was so mad that she bought that book and I could not have it. I was pretty excited when I opened my birthday present and saw that same book! In that book was an Aston Martin, and I still have the book.
My car addiction persisted until college when I bought into the hype that I was not good enough to have cool cars. Luckily that attitude changed and I ended up buying:
-1986 Porsche 928
-1991 Mustang 5.0
-2010 Audi S4
-1999 Lamborghini Diablo
-1998 Lotus Esprit
-1981 Aston Martin V8
I still have all of these cars. I bought the Aston in January, but have not actually taken possession of it! I am in Colorado and the law states that a car must pass emissions before it can be sold. The mechanic had a tough time with the car. He took it in about 8 times before they realized the catalytic converters were clogged.
Lucky for me right? Actually yes! The mechanic asked if I wanted an upgraded exhaust while he was doing all this work. The seller had to pay for most of this work, so while they were taking off the exhaust and reinstalling it, I could get a different exhaust and just pay for parts. They only made 48 Aston Martins in 1981 so an after market exhaust is not in high demand. He had a buddy who makes custom exhaust systems. $2,000 to me, and today I got notice the car passed emissions. It has Borla mufflers and a custom cat back with bolt on catalytic converters. He said the car sounds and drives 10 times better.
I can't wait to see the car and actually drive it again. It is a auto which we may have ti change as well. But for now I have one of the rarest and coolest cars in the world with a custom exhaust. oh yeah, it also appeared in the 1980's television show Dynasty. When I get it I will be sure to post way more pics and a video.
If I make it out to Colorado I may just have to see if your in the mood to take one of these out for a drive.
