At auction house RM Sotheby's in Monterey, California, is sold the most important car of Aston Martin in 1956, DBR1, for 22.6 million dollars. This car was the first of five built to win the Le Mans race.
Aston Martin with DBR1 competed against Ferrari 250 GTO and Mercedes Benz 300 SLR, and was David Brown's dream of winning Le Mans, transmeton Koha.net.

This success came in 1959 with DBR1, but not with what will be auctioned.

This chassis number 1 was constructed by Ted Cutting's racing car designer and made his first debut in 1956, but after 22 hours retired due to a motorcycle problem.

The sale of Aston Martin DBR1 has broken the $ 21.8 million worth of Jaguar D-Type XKD 501, which was sold at the same auction last year.

In addition to DBR1, RM Sotheby's has sold several other models of Aston Martin, including the Aston Martin DB4GT of 1959 with a price of $ 6.76 million and the Aston Martin DBR9 at a price of $ 616,000.
