A few years back I was in a book company doing sales. Since we need a qouta for a week we have to choose a partner to do a random house to house sales in order to increase our production. Those who close a deal higher than the others will treat the whole group for a karaoke night. Actually all were winners since the highest grocer will be the financier and least ones will just savor the prize.
One day my partner and I passed a funeral parlor. What was unique in this place was how the coffins were arranged in side streets like pairs of slippers ready to wear. It's like a bargain of" ukay-ukay" or used clothings for sale hanging in hangers bewitching passersby to take a look. To a new comer it was more than an exibit, a coffin exibition in road trip. The best part was how the owner showed accomodation to anyone. With his best smile he waved his hands to us to stop for a while. Without furthet ado my partner laydown the brochures on the table while the owner was scrutinizing one his best coffins. We sold ourselves first to Manong and then we do our talkings.Mastering the contents of our motivational books I knew that he was half convince to own it. One book had the title "The Positive Power of Positive Thinking" struck his eyes powerfully. I told him this will make his business more lucrative and bla. bla. bla. My explanation was flawless that he didn't even winked his eyes. He was totally dumbstruct of the12 books that was included in a motivational short course of success. With all of these my partner took out her pen and handed him the contract.
"No I willl not sign first! Do you accept in kind in exchange of your books or enrolling in your short course?" My heart pounded heavily. "What do you mean?" "You can choose a coffin , anyone you like!"
My eyes stared at him in horror. " Coffin in exchange of the book?" "Actually where not carrying the books with us. We have our CI to investigate you first. Explain payments and monthly dues."
"No I want your books. Deliver it on Monday.
The next Monday we went to deliver the books to Manong. He handed us the check in full payment and guessed what? The glossy silver coffin was out of sight.
"Told you, when the coffin is lost your books are here. The Negative Power of Positive Thinking."
