I didn't either until I looked it up. This country has way too many holidays all year long. Favorite restaurants or people you do business with are just gone. Shut down for a month.
Most get back in town at the end of January, just to have a month of Carnaval.
Oh wow, that's quite unproductive ... Very similar to Venezuela, but here the festivities are spread throughout the year, being too many by the way
