The Carnival tells its origins in ancient Rome, where the celebrations were intended to celebrate the arrival of spring. After this there was an expansion of these customs to Renaissance Europe and it is through the conquest that Carnival arrives in South America.
In Brazil they have their first contact in Bahia, and through another source, the slaves. Then on the one hand there is the influence of Western history, but on the other the enormous African influence that is evident in many characteristics such as dance, music, costumes, etc.
The Carnival of Rio lasts for four days in which the Samba schools meet to compete, and where the city receives visitors from all over the world, wearing a single color, joy !. The city itself participates in the celebration, with this we mean that at the time of the Carnival the festivities involve people of all ages and social classes, which makes it an event that promotes inclusion.
The Carnival begins at the Marques de Sapucaí Sambadrome, with the opening of the celebration through the coronation of King Momo by the prefect, who hands over the keys to the city.
The main event will be the parade in the Sambadrome by the Samba schools. However, we can find countless street events and private parties for all tastes. In the Rio Carnival, fun is guaranteed.
As we can see, the Rio Carnival revolves around the role that the Samba schools play in the parade. These print a force that strengthens traditions. The Samba appears for the first time in Bahia at the end of the 19th century, it was a dance style brought by African slaves and the rhythm of Candombe was danced.
From that moment the parades appear, which are guided by the first Samba schools. The first group that became known as the Samba school was Deixa Falar, which was founded in the late 1920s, in the same way as Mangueira. Deixa Falar disbanded after a short time, however, he managed to parade for the first time in 1929.
The samba schools are dedicated all year to prepare the parade. Each school must choose a theme that will represent them, in many cases these topics are chosen with great depth, leaving in the viewer a great reflection and keeping the tradition alive, thus being a resource to bring and share the historical memory of the country from a artistic and cultural.
