EVs are built on a fundamentally different platform from ICE vehicles
the engineering knowledge and expertise does not transfer
nor does the equipment or manufacturing knowledge
the only thing traditional manufacturers can keep are car-body, paint, and wheels/tires/axles/steering
but they have to throw away drive-train, engine, and structural knowledge in order redesign the vehicle from the bottom up
that means that traditional OEMs are going to have to throw out a majority of their existing manufacturing infrastructure and either retrain or fire and hire all new staff in order to be able to successfully transition to making EVs
