This is a 1958 Jeep FC 150.
The FC 150 was a Willys design that was Also built by Kaiser-Jeep, once they took over from Willys. Being the 1958 model this is the wide track. This particular one belongs to a friend in Los Angeles California. This truck is all original, running an "L-head" Inline 4 cylinder 134 Cubic inch(2.2L) Hurricane Engine, mated to the 4-speed Borg-Warner T-98 manual Transmission. These are all full-time four wheel drive.
Engineering was based on existing CJ-5. The updates in 1958 on both the FC-150 and 170 versions had attained a goal established by Willys engineers to design a versatile commercial vehicle in which the ratio of the vehicle's curb weight to its payload was 1 to 1. According to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), this was regarded as the lowest ratio offered by north American manufacturers at that time within the standard light-duty commercial vehicle segment. The FC layout offered advantages including a short turning radius and large cargo bed size given the compact overall length.
The FC models were designed by Brooks Stevens, and mainly marketed as work vehicles for corporate, municipal, military, and civilian use. Regular pickup box beds were standard, but customers were offered a large number of "Jeep approved" specialized bodies from outside suppliers. These ranged from simple flatbeds to complete tow trucks, dump trucks, and fire trucks.
These Trucks were produced in the Jeep Toledo plant from 1956 until 1965, and also assembled in India and Spain. There were 4 main models, FC150, FC 170, Fc180, and FC190.
The bold boxy style, iconic 7 bar Jeep grill and futuristic styling proved to be a little too much for the customer base and sadly, only 30,000 were produced and sold over the 9 years of production. These are quite rare due to the small production plus a tendency to turn into piles of rust when even looking at water.
You have to admit though. This pug ugly little truck is all business, and undeniably 100% man approved!

What a fine car! Have you seen the remake of it?
Yeah, but sadly it was only a concept. You know like a Jeep that doesn't rust out ;)
