As lockdown began to lift, and events started up again, we headed down to the Millbrook Proving Ground for the first SMMT test day in nearly two years. One of the manufacturers we had the chance to talk with was Hyundai.
We had not yet been able to book any models in for review until now, and we were super excited that the first Hyundai we have had on review is the new hybrid Tucson.
This is the 4th gen, and in terms of advancement and improvements, this model has taken a huge leap forward (It's even 1cm longer than the previous Gen, and while this may not seem like a lot, you can tell the difference when you climb into the back)
As this is a plug in hybrid, the combination of combustion engine and electric motor work together to give you a higher fuel economy, which is something we tested during a long haul road trip.
We took it down to Gaydon and back, roughly a 360 mile round trip, and even through torrential rain, the Tucson felt well planted, and it handled superbly in the extreme weather. Fuel economy gave us up to 56 mpg. Even when we engaged Sport Mode, it had very little effect on the economy.
The safety features are extensive on both trims, with the Tech Pack adding Remote Smart Park Assist and Parking Collision Avoidance Assist. It's also tricked out with lots of mod cons too.
My favourite had to be the ventilated seats, as it kept us both cool and comfy during our long trip. As we had not been further than the Lake District for nearly two years, it was a most comfortable way to travel.
Thank you, all - and enjoy!

Cool review (beautiful pics, especially the first) It seems to be a nice upgrade for this SUV. I like the new design and on the Ultimate version interestings options. Thanks for the review...
Glad you liked it, @heroldius - it's a huge leap forward in terms of design :)
