KGM have started 2025 with a bang, with the launch of their new coupe style SUV, the Actyon! As many of you know, we have a lot of love for KGM here at Planetauto, so we were very excited to attend their UK launch.
With 70 years of experience making 4x4’s, they are a brand that excels in giving us rugged, practical and surprisingly luxurious vehicles without a hefty price tag – and the Actyon is a tribute to that 70 years of innovation.
So let’s start with the name – Actyon – a portmanteau of Act Young and Act On – and when you first clap eyes on it, you’ll find that it fits. With KGM’s ethos of ‘Practical Creativity’ you can see that this is a lifestyle vehicle that suits so many facets of your day to day.
It’s powered by a 1.5 litre GDi turbocharged engine coupled to a 6 speed automatic transmission, and one of the best things we like about this is that the Actyon comes in only one trim, with one price – the K50, and it costs £36,995 on the road. For the moment, the Actyon is only available in Front wheel, so keep an eye out for the AWD version.
The exterior design of the Actyon pays homage to their Korean heritage, as the design of the daytime running lights and front grille are inspired by the Korean flag, with the rear finished with a muscular and sporty rear spoiler. Its looks strike the perfect balance between rugged and refined, and just check out those 20” alloy wheels.
The inside is just as stylish, with wood trim finishes and carbon fibre trims. That’s not the only thing about the interior either – the other thing you will notice is how spacious it is. Add to this lots of tech and safety and oodles of storage, and you have an SUV that will suit your needs with room for family fun and adventure too. One of our favourite features is the heated and ventilated seats – a feature we first found on the Musso – so we were delighted to see it fitted as standard in the Actyon. Another plus? The rear seats are heated too!
Safety has always been a priority with SsangYong, so it’s nice to see that this hasn’t changed with the buy out by KG, meaning you’ve got Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Brake, Blindspot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Hill Start Assist and Descent Control, Brake Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control as standard. Sweet.
So what it boils down to is this: KGM has struck a balance between substance, style and value for money, as the new Actyon costs £36,995 on the road. When you look at the levels of tech and safety you get and combine it with looks and performance, you get a whole lot of SUV for the money. What are your thoughts? Would this new SUV be a contender as your next vehicle?
Thank you all, and enjoy!
Annabelle 😊
