A list of fun cars I've driven and my favorite cars of all time

in #cars8 years ago

I've never owned a lot of cars - just cars to get me from A to B. But I love to drive and I love the aesthetics and engineering. And luckily my dad was sort of a car person, and always had a second car. Here are some of them.

The first car I drove when I got my license was this - a 1994 E34 BMW 525i. I don't know how many times I almost crashed it, but it always went well. 192hp, 2,5 liter straight 6 engine. 0-60 in about 8,7 seconds, and the top speed was confirmed at 235km/hour.
In 1999 this was a fast car!

For some reason my dad bought a 1987 Chrysler Daytona pacifica. I think there were two of them in Norway. A 2,2 liter turbo straight 4 engine with some 190hp. When the turbo worked it was sort of a semi-fast car, doing 0-60mph in about 7 seconds. But every time i drove it, it stopped working, so my dad sold it. Don't blame him :)

Then it was the G-wagon. Oh boy we had some fun with this. I don't remember which engine it was, but probably the 3 liter diesel. This thing was unstoppable.

Now over to my favorite cars of all time.

1 The Ford GT40.

Now this is an american-british endurance racing car based on the british Lola Mk6. The GT40 won the Le mans four consecutive times from 1966-1969. It has a 4,2 liter Ford V8 engine. The car went from 0-60 in 4,2 seconds and a top speed of over 205 miles per hour. In my opinion one of the coolest and best looking cars ever made. And imagine these Le mans GT cars going at these speeds in the 60's.

2 Ferrari F355

This is in my opinion THE Ferrari. This is how a Ferrari should look like, and it is considered the last of the classic Ferraris. Designed by Pininfarina and produced between 1994-1999. A 3,5 liter V8 with 6 speed manual producing 380hp this car does 0-60 in 4,7 seconds and has a top speed of 183 mph. This car is actually a bargain now days. Even in Norway with high taxes on horsepowers and engine volume these are only about 80-90,000$. If I had the money this is definitely the car I would buy. Imagine tearing up the highway in this thing.

3 Porsche 959

This car is sort of a hidden gem. It's not the most beautiful car in my opinion. And it is certainly not affordable with prices between 1-2 million $. But this was the car that Boris Becker famously drove at 300 km/h down the autobahn in his prime days. This car was so modern and crazy that it wasn't even street legal in the US until 1999. Produced between 1986-1988 and 1992-1993 only 345 cars were made. It has a 2,9 liter twin turbocharged flat 6 engine. With the factory upgrade Porsche could offer the owners, this car produced a mind numbing 585bhp. Doing 0-60 in 3,4 seconds and a top speed of 197mph (317 km/h) this car was truly insane - and it was actually faster than the most iconic supercar of the 90s - the Ferrari F40.

4 Lamborghini Diablo

The last of the old school supercars - Lamborghini Diablo was produced between 1990-2001 (2884 made)
It came with two different engines, a 5.7 and a 6.0 liter V12.

The earlier model produced 485hp and did 0-60 in 4,4 seconds and had a top speed of 202mph(325 km/h)
Later models were a little bit faster. This is in my opinion the epitome of a supercar.

5 Iso Grifo

This is one of the most beautiful cars ever made (maybe perhaps only beaten by the Lamborghini Miura) Produced between 1963-1974 and fitted with three different american engines. 5,8 liter, 7.0 liter and a 7,4 liter V8 with 395bhp this car was a beast. The 7 liter did 0-60 in 6 seconds, while the 7,4 liter 1970 model did 0-60 in 4,7 seconds and had a top speed of 180mph (290 km/h) which made this the ultimate GT road car in it's time.
