As I'm planning to move to Latin America, I will have to choose something from that continent because, obviously, european cars like this one
doesn't seem to be a good option =(
I've checked some variants and here they are:
Ford F150 Raptor
Seems to be an "ok" option, as it's Ford and should be some kind of "reliable piece of car"
Not sure though, that it's brutal look will be ok to have in brutal countries of Latin America - it will be like I'm just wannabe. Never drove one of those, so cannot tell anything about it. The only thing that annoys me in this car - it looks plastic, too much plastic outside. And I hope that it's proper off-road vehicle.
Chevrolet Colorado
That plastic stuff at front... should be removed if going off-road is planned. Or it will be removed by itself, but a bit less accurate =)
For some reason, it looks like a lawn mower to me =) The other thing that annoys me in this car - it's Chevrolet and it might have the "classy murican" engine - it might have 6L V8 that gives you all the power in the world - around 100 HP or what's the average amount that american engines normally produce, having 6L engines? Might be up to 150 HP =)
It looks like the car to go shopping rather than proper off-roader. On the other hand, I can see that wheel arks are actually huge that slightly inspires on putting proper size wheels, like this
Looks much better, right? ;)
Toyota The Invincible
Using the word "invincible", I obviously meant Hilux =)
If this fact needs to be proved, here are few facts: all so-called terrorists at Middle East use this car; petrol companies list this car as "standard field vehicle"; watch "Top Gear - Killing Toyota" =)
BUT let's be honest here, the invincible one is this old model, of 1989
I drove one of those, it looked exactly as the one on the picture.
Off-road? oh yeah! And by off-road for this car, I mean not only muddy road, I mean, all you need is direction of where to go, this car will just bring you there.
It's funny but I guess that the "Offroad Express" is the sticker that these cars got from the factory.
And it really is. Few times this car brought me to the places that could be reached on helicopter only, as they told me. But helicopters are noisy, cost a lot, attract too much attention and are not as comfortable.
Back to the topic of the post, will Hilux be available and easy to maintain in Latin America? That's the question...
