A group of European manufacturers of the L7e class microcars is joining forces to create a viable alternative to large passenger cars. The founding members are Microlino, City Transformer and Circle Mobility, but other manufacturers are likely to join. The aim of the coalition is to raise awareness of the environmental benefits of popularising cheap, fuel-efficient small cars and changing the policy of incentives to switch to microcars. Category L7e (heavy quadricycle) includes cars that can travel on all types of public roads, as opposed to the L6e (light quadricycle) class with a limit of 45 km/h and intended mainly for driving in built-up areas.
