Scooter asks Sally and Chica if they could hang out, and then later asks how they met, maybe to know more about Chica. He doesn't know that he'd be learning more about Sally, than Chica. Sally tells Scooter the story about how her life was before she and Chica met, and gives the viewers a better explanation why Sally was sad when the two met.
